But by "discouraging" their use, the game organiser is accepting the onus of responsibility, not the player...

...hope they aren't too fond of their house/other assets!

Maybe if you ran the game in California. Fortunately the UK legal system doesn't allow consenting adults to play the it's-my-personal-choice-but-i'm-still-a-victim card quite as brazenly.

Plus only I have done it, and I only own debt, not assets, so am not overly fussed anyway.

This forum and the ww2 scene (apart from a few professional events companies) run these events for themselves and you are invited to take part. I'm still not convinced anyone should or can have an opinion on what they want to door how they want to do it. They are not tied down the word 'customer'. Gunman events, you are all customers and I run games because it's my living, but most of the lads can end up 'out of pocket' trying to run fun games for there mates and other like minded players. They simply arent held down by the same requirements a professional events company is. If they say 'no full face masks' and you want to wear one then your NOT like minded! :slap:

I think if everyone can get their heads round the fact there is no uniform ww2 Airsoft and it comes in many flavours, then topics like this won't be so lengthy :happyclap: cause I too have to keep reading it from the bloody start before I can post :slap:

Just remember that a good thick scarf is just as good as a full/half mask and will keep more option open when choosing events to go to, as your would be missing out on some amazing experiences. :good:

Therein lies the problem not yet addressed in the past ten pages - the full face masks wearers can't grow beards.

Gah, I have my naughty head on today. * whistles *

 Mine are buffed and polished to a shine - does that mean I legally have to wear a face mask at Gunman games? Is there some sort of fur checking scroatometer or do you just go by trust? : sick :

I currently have a very bushy beard, turning a more and more Santa like colour by the day (unfortunately)...

...of course, if I don't shave it off before an event it will probably spoil someones "immersion". :slap:

Don't worry, if I don't get chance, I shall simply hide it under a "realistic" half face mask!

I'm probably just digging up a dying thread here, but I'd prefer that you actively discourage the use of face masks and not ban/disallow/prohibit/etc them, I use one which in the beginning was a really big chunky thing like this:

But over time I've removed pieces until it no longer has the throat guard or the visor on the top, once I'm old enough I'll be able to knock the full face mask to a half "realistic" mask and some goggles/glasses, but until then I'm stuck.

I can fully understand the fact that you wouldn't see a Tommy/Jap/Jerry or Yank running around with something like this on there face and it would ruin the historic "feel" that WW2 Airsoft prides itself on, but some people just don't want to get the wounds that occur because of this sport.

Should we ostracize them because of this, we shouldn't, we can have our personal grudges against them (And maybe make voodoo dolls and prick them with needles), but we shouldn't actually push them out of WW2 Airsoft, you should encourage them to join and then encourage them to start reducing the protection around their face, after a while and a bit of perseverance, you'll probably have them wearing a gum shield/half mask and glasses or they'll have their own "lost tooth" story to tell, it just takes time, embrace there concerns and then start them wearing down when they gain their confidence they'll dispose of "The dreaded face mask" and will join the crowd.

I haven't been to a WW2 game yet, but I will in November for The Gothic Line, I and a friend will be coming and we're both under 18, so we're required to wear full face protection and I apologize for the inconvenience this will cause to a large percentage of you, but there's nothing we can do, we're both new (I'm 10 games old, my friend around 5) and we're keen to have fun and I'll be eager to get advice on how I can improve my kit (getting wool BD being something I'm working towards), I will probably not consider getting rid of the tooth protection, but the future has a lot of secrets, time will tell.

Well thats certainly the approach I take, but can we please let this debate die, as interesting as it has been its doing my swede in now

At the risk of sounding patronising, very good to see a well written and argued response from an under 18, and well worth the *necro-post and a suitable conclusion on which to close the thread - thank you to all participants. :good:

* Well, not really a necro post, but meh
