Today i went to Peak Rail and Ripley 1940s events.

Peak Rail: Excellent re-enactor displays, bugger all traders very little to do once you'd seen the good groups. 2nd Guards and Second Battle Group looked awesom (hmm a '2nd' thing there...)

Ripley: Excellent Groups, tons of traders, loads of interesting displays and all in all better value for money. !6th/5th Lancers and 16th SS (featuring our own lads Dave, CW and Keith) stood out as very good (and a 16th thing going on there)

Both good shows but Ripley better value in my opinion. For pre booked re-enactors Peak Rail was £7 quid and Ripley just £3.

Today, yesterday and friday night, I was out at Shingle 'Operations Weekend' at Gunman Airsoft. Smaller side numbers allowed far better squad-work and improved co-operation and communication. Another major point of enjoyment was there were only two SMGs per side (1 STEN and 1 Thompson used by the two officers on the Allied side, and an MP40 and an MP44 on the Axis side), Everyone else had bolt action rifles! A .30cal team was also included on the Allied side when needed. Much WW2 airsofting goodness was had :D

Today, I had to do some decorating. :x I guess I've got off lightly over the past 5 years or so. Painted the kitchen ceiling and walls.

Then, when my duties were done, I polished and treated the soles of my jackboots and my lowboots, waterproofed 4 Zelts and resprayed a DAK gas mask tin back to RAL6006.

As recommended by Kermit. I found the easiest way to apply it was with a latex-clad finger. It's certainly nice in the fact that it doesn't smell. :)

Waterproofed two Zelts with Thompsons water seal ready for Op Sealion. lets hope they dont need it!

“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."

A quick note about Thompson's - they've changed the formulation. The old was kero based, the new is water based. If you've previously waterproofed zelts with the old formulation do not try and re-proof them with the new!

Oops, too late. I did mine with the old stinky stuff a long time ago, but the new stuff is brilliant. One 5-litre can does more than 10 Zelts.

Totally not airsoft but just back from a larp event (including mass battles)

I held my place in the shield wall despite some rather chafing armour and some vary scary/numerous opponents!

To the tune of "Mademoiselle from Armentières"

Napoleons army ran away, As you do
The guard stood firm for Frances Pride, As you do
They said the guard will stand and die
But we heard what their Colonel cried
It wasn't pretty I tell you.
