Sorry going a bit off on a tangent - did the original ones really get impregnated with some anti gas chemical that made them really stink?

...Took off my old bodged collar tabs and sewed on some 'proper' ones. With all this sewing, i'm beginning to be less awful at it! :giggle:

Congrats. You're really not that old :D

Halfway done with my packing for saturdays WW2-game. How I'm supposed to march from the car to the offgame-area with this amount of crap (Small pack, large pack, webbing, extra pair of trousers, gun bag)? For those asking, I'm insane and prepare for every contingency (rain, hot, cold, get wet crossing some water etc).

Why do you always carry that umbrella?
-Bad memory. Never could remember the password. Knew no Jerry would carry one. Had to prove I was an Englishman, you see.

It sounds entirely sensible to me, 'be prepared', but then again I am usually to be seen struggling to carry the kitchen sink around on my back :)

Today I have been sewing on trouser buttons, and admiring my top-toe lufty look in the mirror. I have also started assembling my gear for Eagles, maybe a wee bit early, but be prepared!

Cheers

Well they say a picture tells a thousand words, so here's a picture of what I have done today! (washed the blanco off / cleaned my '37 webbing and left it to dry)

re-nailing my jack boots ,waxing them and the rest of my leather webbing and trying to get some consistency and accuracy out of a stock dboys k98 ,if its my back up at eagles over the Rhine and i need to use it then before i run away collecting shells as i run then i want some of my 5 shots on target.so far ive coaxed it from 280-315fps to 330-340fps and by completely replacing the inner barrel with an old aeg one it now shoots roughly in the same direction each time :D .

Not today, but this weekend: was at the Dropzone Heeswijk event in The Netherlands as re-enactor. The event was visited by the veterans John Primerano 101st 501 PIR HQ and Jack Womer, 101st 506PIR Demolition Section and 'member' of the Filthy Thirteen.

On Friday Michael de Trez and Peter Hendrikx presented their two new boos: Orange is the color of the day and D-Day Minus, 17 September 1944. I've bought a copy of both, signed by the authors and the first also signed by John Primerano. John landed approx. 100meter from the where our campsite was.

Saturday was jump-day and multiple jumpers made their way down to earth from an original Dakota C47. Also 101st Airbone Division currently Enlisted servicemen jumped as part of the Air Assault Para Demonstration team from the USA.

On sunday we had a static display day.

It was one hell of a jolly good event!

Sorted out all my stuff for Eagles next week. Four months since I had a game, getting withdrawal symptoms...

Recieved a copy of the Liverpool Echo dated August 28th 1939 - original. Very interesting!

Spent a happy morning trying out equipment variations with my new A frame and confirmed that I can indeed strap my greatcoat to it, Main thing is I now have a jazzy assault bag in which to put my sandwiches :)

Cheers
