....Picked up a nice bleeder from some open day player who shot me in the throat as I walked towards him with my hand up saying 'I'm dead'. Not a brilliant day out! :ghey:

Fire an AK47 while you were there by any chance?

Nope, didn't do any of the cliche stuff (shindler's factory/ghetto/strip-club/rifle-range/razorblade factory etc...) except for going to many vodka bars - but thats because the guy whose stag it was is a very big vodka connasuer (sp?). We mostly spent the weekend gorging ourselves of gamey food, arcitecture, fine drink & history...

...oh, and a crazy tour in Trabants and Polski-Fiat 126p's!

I'm on crutches for now. Probably best not to venture off-road for a couple of weeks, never mind the hassle of flying over...Rather save my money for when I get better and can run about.

It's ok, got 2 ladies around the house pampering me, while I loiter about, completely useless  Could be worse. King of the jungle, like

Speaking as someone who regularly injured my ankles (during my footie-playing days), here's what my osteopath taught me: keep icing it until the swelling goes down, then you will have to massage the painful areas with your thumbs, to increase the blood flow (and therefore the healing) to the damaged areas. Do this until it is better. This also helps to disperse the build up of "whatever it is" yucky stuff that is associated with internal injuries / bruising. With repeated twisted ankles, the ligaments (which connect the bones) become stretched, and so increase the likelihood of doing it again. I took to wearing neoprene ankle supports, which help prevent further twisting, and give the joint time to recover.

Prepare for a 6 to 8 weeks recovery before everything is 'walkable' again. Running without issues can take a bit longer.

I bruised my ankle/foot 2 years ago, looked a bit the same like yours: nothing broken, but it was twice as thick as the other foot. Took me ~8 weeks to be able to walk decently again.

It's better to break something, than to bruise it..

yup ,i used to know an accident centre nurse and he reckoned with ankles"if they walk in then its broken, if they can't walk its sprained" , weird but true .

Having skateboarded through most of the late 80s and 90s (nowadays back to BMX), this is not my first ankle injury  , but my ankles have usually returned to a firm state because I also practiced a lot of martial arts over the years.

That said, noone's ever told me to keep cooling until the swelling goes down, then massage it. I'll call my wife now to bring me back some ice packs on her way home from the museum :good:

Had a reasonable day at a local sites open day with one of my cousins lads.
Even though it was a free for all I did less than 1000 rounds all day and managed a good tally of 'kills'.
I did get stuck up to my knees in a patch of very soft mud that required another big chap to pull me out. Oh the shame....
Also picked up two nice battle scars on my chin. Silly old sod, I should know better.
I'd forgotten the joy of those Cyma electric Glocks with the extra large mag on full auto. :happydance: You can keep you gas and your blowback.

Ah yes, I love my electric Glock. Used to use it+ a large mag as a secondary with my SLR. The big mag is a bit unwieldy though.

Anyway, thanks to everyones kind advice and Chommers despatch of some Holland cloth, I now have a properly badged up South Staffs maroon beret.

I also started sorting out my stuff for Bastogne yesterday.

Cheers

i cant take the credit for the idea ,its a well known mod that uses mp7 100 rnd mid caps ,MAG mid caps are best, you just file or sand them to be thin enough to fit into the mp44 mag case (easy as the MAG mid caps are all plastic) then file the side nearest the feed hole so it lines up then drill the securing pin hole ,fit the pin and a little packing and you'r done.
