Repaired a leaky k98 mag and rebuilt two mp40s today. My own 40 had exploded a bearing and started to strip the piston also the arcing from the lipos had eroded the trigger contacts. The other one had a damaged motor pinion and had spread chips of metal all through the Gearbox. That new WE maintenance kit had a really handy putty to pick up all the debris.

Repaired a P38 with a broken trigger and have attempted to tone down the hop effect on my M1 carbine.

....climbed to the top of Ben Vorlich* wearing some more 'traditional' gear. The drab windproof smock is a Panther Store repro' and the mountain cap is original '44 dated. Carried all my gear in an old large pack. Visibility, as you can see, was very very poor! Good views were not had - couldn't really see 10meters in front!

Spent the day doing some work on my G43 conversion. Making sure it can be switched back to an m14 or Garand easily. Just putting the finishing touches to the details on the reciever so possibly some photos later. :good:

Got this to a useable standard. Still lots of work to do on it until I can call it finished ( replacing the reciever and sight block with steel parts, adding the cleaning rod, sorting out the sling mounts etc.) But I can use it for now and work on it over the winter.

Not today, but for comparison on a far nicer day, been doing some more hill/mountain walking/scrambling/climbing in period kit. This is up on High Raise.
(Sorry about the extreme squinting in the first pic' - the wind was the strongest I've every experienced in the Lakes, and I was facing straight into it for that pic! Also note: Farby post-war 1952 trig' station  )

Finally getting around to fitting a replacement cleaning rod on my K98. Top tip for anyone with the PPS K98, if the cleaning rod bends order a new one, a barrel band and bayonet lug as its just a matter of time before it snaps.

Today (Yesterday) I had my 7.4 Lipo battery go up in a huge puff of smoke inside my Sten gun at a game day while testing it at the chrono in the morning.

Luckily it was outside and not at home anywhere. We think that the cabling might have short circuited somewhere but it is hard to say. Battery was balanced the day before.

Had no issues with it in the past, but it is an absolute mess. Possibly salvageable, but it is going to have to have a huge breakdown, clean and possible new coat of paint and who knows what else. :(

...picked up a Denix SMLE for a VSR transplant.
I don't think it has any ferrous material in it other than the screws :|

Well done with the smle find, a good idea to use a denix.
Today I received the MOSFET kit for my Ppsh 41, but it will have to wait for the weekend to be fitted.

… Collected a G&G MG42 with 2 spare mags, a tool pouch and plenty of batteries. Then used it to chop down our annoying pampas grass.

G&G MG42, PPS Kar98k, KWC P08 and patiently awaiting the KWA MP40 GBB.
