UKAPU
who are these people?
probably another group of self syled governing body types, claiming to represent airsoft.
Ukara Ukasgb ukapu, there are more groups than a banana republic , where will it end.
these people get up my nose, the way they "think" they represent all airsofters, its all bollocks.
if the goverment could ban airsoft it would already have been done under the last shower of shite who got the boot, the current shower of shite that are in power are no better. a ban will come if it wins votes, if not they wont bother.
so these little groups who lobby there mp`s and claim to, on our behalf ,to keep airsoft going are just stroking there own egos and organs.
the sort of people who sit around and talk shite, and give themselfs a reason for living.
airsoft is ungovernable, due to so many r.i.f.s being bought and sold before the idiots in ukara tried to clamp down and become sole UK sellers of airsoft. (the sensible specific defence and allowing personal imports stopped them getting a monoploly on airsoft sales)
it would be like me saying, "im setting up a group to represent the buying and selling of fireworks, and setting up a database of officialy approved sellers" total shite, people would still do whatever they want.
anyways rant over for now, and UKA...........whatever , can ram it all up there overinflated arses

OK, this thread was destined for the bin but as Furey has kindly replied I'll leave it in situ. I'm quite sure Porta didn't mean to be rude, just expressing an opinion in his own inimitable way
However, for those with an enquiring mind I'll just post the link to UKAPU's website again: http://www.ukapu.org.uk/

Hold your horses for a second Porta. I've met these guys (at the Airsoft Arms Fair). They have their heads screwed on right, and really are doing the best they can to put together a body that can represent Airsofters. Remember, the sites have the UKASGB (should they choose to join it) and the retailers have UKARA. The average Airsofter has diddly squat. Yes, its been tried before (and I can actually think of one so called "players body" that was started with the intention of being a puppet of a now defunct Airsoft retailer. One that happened to have "warehouse" in their name)
Give 'em a chance.

I'm a member of UKAPU.
I looked through all that was posted on their website and thought for the price of a packet of fags I'd join up get and wear the patch. I think their aim is genuine and have met Furey, he's a great guy, regular airsofter, and total lunatic when not entirely sober, just like many others here, myself included. I figured that adding my name, for what little difference it makes might help in any small way to giving the airsoft community a voice.
Have you guys heard about the upcoming proposals to register any bolt action rifle running over 350 fps as an air rifle, and restrictions to 328 fps of all other airsoft weapons? These kind of things will keep nibbling away at airsoft. I believe they wont ban airsoft, they'll just do their best to legislate it out of existance.
Just my tuppence.

Heard about such things on and off for the last 17 years of being involved in this hobby. However, it will require a change in primary legislation to acheive - and that aint gonna happen any time soon. What *is* worrying is some of the EU stuff (which will probably arrive as a Directive, not a Guideline) with regards to imitation & replica firearms. Still, the consulation for that only closed 2 months ago, so some while till I can get hold of a first draft of what t'europeans want to do.

Thanks for the clarification

i stand corrected by several members of this forum who i respect, both on a personal level and for their knowedge of airsoft as a whole too.
Furey, please dont take my post as a PERSONAL insult, it was aimed at groups who claim to represent "players" in general, not you as an individual
had we met face to face, i would have said the same words (as anyone here will tell you, i speak my mind), however the way in which i would say it, wouldnt make you feel like i was attacking you personally. I truely hope you get where im coming from on this one!
Thanks for replying on the forum also, (and by pm which i didnt get to see) after you said you didnt post here i assumed you wouldnt read any feedback, im glad you did
all the best with what you aim to do, as ive said, there are people here who have stood up for your group, and as i know them, if they say your good , ill take it as written.
however there are other groups whom i dont like, and i appoligise for grouping you with them
Chommers, thanks for not binning it, it allowed me to read up and clear up before it got canned , and i never saw what was what
edit due to my usual typos

strange thing here in the Isle of Man is that we are not covered by the vcra bill or any airsoft body, everytime we order rif's we have to try and explain this, thats one of the many reasons i dont buy rif's on the forum, just my tuppence worth anyways,

truth is that very few people in this country know what the powers that be are really up to in Westminster so everyone is getting by on rumour and second hand information.
Believe me, the powers that be don't really know what they are up to in Westminster either!
