Curious to know did it state what type of person owned the RIFs ?

they were part of a series of organised raids by the various forces gang investigation squads, so they weren't re-enactors.

Well, unless you class crimewatch reenactments...

so GMTV def scaremongery for the general populus then, those not actually interested in gun crime as they're still in bed sleeping until its time to collect their dole.

Yith the show on Radio 4, making it clear "its illegal to sell guns" is obviously only part of what they said, were they specifically talking about rifs or firearms in general ? did they mention the VCR bill and its implications ? and indeed the legimiate reasons or was it just scare mongering as well ?

Nope... it was a quick headline style thing...
Basically:
1000 firearms (mostly Replicas) seized in raids in liverpool and birmingham this morning in order to fight against gun crime. Gangs were mentioned.

Also mentioned that 135 arrests were made, mostly on non-firearms charges and that it was illegal to sell replicas...

So from what I can see, accurate, non-sensationalist, but short and to the point.

Then thats different, IF it were gangs being targeted

Note there was someone recently over on the wii reenactment forum that was raided and has legitimate reasons ;) hence I asked. Sure I've seen posts on one of the general forums about airsoft too about someone being raided, so its perfectly feasable question asking WHO the people owning the RIFs were ;) mainly as I didn't know. Add to that theirs the media truth and the truth ;)

BBCs current take on it. Not much said about replicas after the first few paragraphs.

Does that mean if I buy a cardboard cut out of a car that is quite capable of running down some pedestrians they will be swooping down in a dawn raid? :banghead:

Blimey I was just reading a few of the comments on the link that Old 'un provided. Apart from it degenerating into a Yank vs Brit flame war, the interesting point is about the errosion of rights which has become more worrying of late.

With this plus sneaky new laws that allow phone calls and texts to be kept for 3 years etc. its worrying to think what will happen. However we're left back to the same problem which is its very unlikely the public will do anything about this cos its far easier to do nothing (which echos a growing statement that we Brits have become very lazy in recent years).

Even if, say, I ... 1 person wanted to do something, theres very little I can do.

The point is then what should the public do, and as rightly mentioned several times on the link by old un, what rights do we actually have as citizens ? I can think of several things put in place by the government (albeit put in place by the voting public, but then when between a rock and a hard place the choices ain't exactly a democracy).

I'm waiting to receive a letter to say my details were on the missing CD for child benefit, not had one yet though and most people I know have already recieved the letter. But the undertones of what the public uproar of the fiasco means that "new" security" measures can and no doubt will be put in place with the public agreement on the grounds of things almost propoganda esq.

Ah ain't it great to be British :?

No it's depressing , our relatives in the Home Guard used to take their weapons and ammunition home with them so they would be ready if needed. Londoners packed their kids off to stay with complete strangers in the evacuations . This is all within my parents living memory , WTF happened in 60 years to get us to this state ? We're more interested in wether someone has had plastic surgery or who the England coach is fucking than anything else. As one of the Yanks said, "you've still got you're TVs so keep quiet" . Uterley depressed .

I guess this counts as the vote winner stuff that was mentioned a while back.

Interestingly if you read this http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6937457.stm
it makes no mention of replicas in there at all, only blank firers.

That Sky report was strange - at the end the copper confiscates a replica because it's 'too big'. I have no idea, but do 'real' Glocks come in nice window boxes as shown halfway through?
