I heard they are bringing in Street Judges next month :!:

What as in Dredd 'I am the law!' :)

cooolll....

No mate, as in 16 year old comunity wardens scateboarding in the "Scate boarding" Sign, sheffield security guards being "Givven" the power to issue on the spot fines but no other police powers, like detaining for example (Read that as the power to get your legs broken and laughted at by the local, if you are lucky) believe it or not its all in yesterdays mail.

The problem is we all have the powers givven to reasonable citizens under magnacarta to bear arms and raise "Hue and Cry", so its off to lancasters armourys for a new sword and lance for me.

just heard a guy on the radio say

"police are issueing shotgun licences to 9 year olds"
"all a criminal has to do is pay children to get a gun licence"
"there will be kids walking round with guns in their pockets"

im very amused, but also very angry

shows what a uneducated idiot who reads the "daily star" can do (the star was where he read the article about the 9 year old)

how about, the 21 year old adult supervision
the need to have a reason, ie clay shooting, pest control
the need for a gun safe
background checks on the whole family

im sure the police know HOW TO ISSUE A GUN TICKET since dunblane , its been tightened up a lot

I'll have a go at simplifying.

Note: there is no point moaning that it's stupid, doesn't make sense, etc etc. This is legislation that has been brougt in by a Government elected by the majority. Quite simply, what's been done is done - we have obey the law as enacted. Not complying with this law is a criminal offence. And on that point, future posts that display defiance or condone or decribe methods to avoid the intention of the law will be met with the delete button. Sorry and all that, time for moaning is over and we have to look to the future and work with what we have.

Prologue over!

As from 1st October you will not be able to buy, sell, import or manufacture Realistic Imitaion Firearms (RIF).
What is an RIF? Go by the rule that if it looks like a real gun to an ordinary member of the public it is an RIF.
How does this affect airsofters? All airsoft guns are RIFs therefore you will not be able to buy, sell, import or manufacture airsoft guns (of all sorts, from pistols upwards).

The Act does not affect ownership of RIFs already purchased.
It does not affect use of RIFs (within other limits by law).
It does not affect purchase or sale of spare parts, accessories, consumables.
It does not affect deactivated real weapons.

A concession was introduced to enable genuine airsofters to continue their hobby. This will be a tight group and the method of describing/proving an airsofter still has not be defined but the likely outcome is fairly clear.

Proof of being an airsofter can only be proved by being a member of an airsoft site that carries third party insurance and have been present at and paid for three skirmishes. A retailer will have to check against site records to establish proof of airsofter status before allowing a sale. Local and national schemes are being set up top handle this via paper and electronic methods, none fully in place at present.

Whatever the status, under 18s cannot buy, sell, import or manufacture RIFs at all. Airsoft gun purchase from now on is an over 18 activity. That said, an airsoft gun that is bright red, bright orange, bright yellow, bright green, bright pink, bright purple can be bought by anyone as iot is no longer 'realistic'.

UK retailers will be most keen to make absolutely sure of the status of an airsofter before a sale is made. Police action will most likely start with retailers to make sure the scheme is working as it is self-regulating.

There you go, quick and basic, but that's it in a nutshell.

Time to get those orders in at RSOV!

I bet the UK retailers are rubbing their hands with glee at all this. What I want to ask, is where will WE as a WW2 organisation go for our "passes"? I for one am not affiliated to any particualar site, nor do I wish to be. One of the attractions of CIA events is the very fact that we are nomadic and visit the sites which suit the games, owing loyalty to none but ourselves.

I resent the fact that a UK retailer can get all high and mighty and self righteous about "checking us out" before we give THEM OUR money! What gives them the right to judge us worthy of selling to?

Is there any way we can set CIA up as a "club", with a constitution, et al? I'd be happy to pay subs to get round being tied to a site I'll never visit.

I'm sure I'm not the only one here who want nothing to do with 90% of the sites (and 99% of the retailers!) in the UK.

Not high and mighty, just complying with the law. No retailer will want to be hauled through the courts and banged up for flogging an RIF to a non-airsofter.

Overseas retailers won't have access to any UK database to establish status of purchaser (nor would they care - they won't be proscecuted and they have got your money). However, you as the importer should care when the goods are impounded pending investigation! Possibility of Customs being set up to access UK database(s) is being floated but don't hold your breath, I don't think it's their highest priority!

The short of it is, we're pretty much screwed when it comes to freedom of choice in buying our guns from outside the UK.

I suppose the one ray of light is that we can still get our spares and accessories from abroad. I'll just have to keep fixing my existing guns when they break! We've been spoiled by foreign pricing for years and it'll really hurt a lot of people financially having no choice but to buy from the UK.

It also puts paid to our "project" guns doesn't it? Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't a custom made gun count as manufacturing a RIF?

In relation to personal imports - quoted from Sean Wilson, Chair UKASGB (aka Boomer):

In relation personal imports it is clear that the key will be whether the brokerage department of the courier companies are up to speed/ willing to be involved in the approving of player members for personal imports. What is totally clear is that nothing will get through under the radar everyone is going to end up paying vat and import duty.
