Looking through the forum I found the poll on whether you fight for one side or swing both ways. Just wondering what influenced your choice of sides. For me I chose axis, I've no sympathy with their politics or ideology (as I'd guess would be the case with anyone sane), I've just always thought the weapons and uniforms looked better. That said if I had the money I'd be happy to have a British loadout. as well.

There seemed to be just US loadouts being worn when I started so I chose British on principle.

The country of my birth was under-represented in my own country and still is.

Originally, i started out with German, as it was simply the cheapest and most accessible, (chinese uniform and mp40, jackboots and helmet i already had!) at the time, and i didn't know if i was interested enough to make it a full on hobby.

Turns out i was, and as i knew Gadge already, i got subtly converted to the 'Light Side', and as one of the organisers of PBI.

I now have Brit(several), German(GD/Heer) and Russian Loadouts, am happy to play any of them, and looking at an SS loadout at some point when funds allow.

The only thing that doesn't interest me in game terms is playing US, solely because their uniforms, kit and history don't interest me in the same way that Brit, German or Russian gear does.

I'm a former Stafford and when i started re-enacting I did South Staffords as i knew a lot about the regiments history and what kit to get from the start.

Since then I collected some german kit to allow me to assist in running game from the axis side and Russian kit cos i like the stuff.

Zero interest in US kit, i dont like the look of it and I dont really rate US forces in WWII.

Did US infantry first because first game i went to was D-Day, got bored of the lack of other US infantry so went South Staffs and because i think british airborne look the best ever hands down, then i went Heer because the kits cool i wanted an MP40 and there a bit less political than the SS although i do love oakleaf camo.

I think mostly my choices have been decided by what I think looks good and what will fit well into a certain game. I decided straight away I wanted to go German. US doesn't really appeal to me and having no real connection with the British army in WW2 I didn't feel duty bound to go brit straight away. Although I may do both at some point German will always be my main focus.

I started out with Fallschirmjaeger as I've always thought they were one of the best units of the war. Tough yet honourable with nothing but praise from friend and foe alike. Plus they have smart looking unique kit and weapons. 8)
My DAK kit came about because of similar thought to my FJ kit and I have always found the North African theatre one of the most interesting.
My Russian kit I got so that I could play from the other side now and again. Its an under represented side especially considering the size of the conflict there so I thought I could also do my bit to help promote it, especially as it can be done so cheaply.
My (under construction) SS kit again i got because it fits with scenario in lots of games, the kit is interesting and because the KGSS are a great bunch. :good:

SS by mistake. Originaly I had intended to to do heer, so the missus orderd a hat for me. she thought it was Heer and it turned out to be SS. From that I ended up getting a full SS kit and the rest followed. Fallschrimjager was next and I'm working on US 1st infantry.

Well I've had an interest in US ww2 History, from going to Duxford and the IWM, and building Airfix kits from about 5 yrs old. My Interest in 101st Airborne, and specifically D-Day caught my imagination later on with reading the Ambrose books in my mid teens, and watching SPR and BOB recently. I dont have a particular interest in British WW2 history, thats not saying i dont respect what they did. Especially since finding out alot more about my great Uncle who served as a Major with the 8th Bat DLI and was killed during the war.

German is something i will do, but im struggling with my concious for now.

Next of the cards is US infantry

german, cos i is half german, (german dad english mum) and ever since i was a kid building models i always thought that the german stuff was better. esp afrika korps..... I chose the ss loadout because it is one of the best camo patterns around nd i wanted a como that i could wear even when general airsifting. besides the yanks annoy me but i may try a commando loadout, that interests me. Besides the german kit was designed by hugo Boss .... need i say more.
