Was looking over some uniform bits this evening and this sort of popped into my head. Me personally I find myself stupidly gun orientated. When I bought my german stuff recently was thinking about the gun well before the uniform. So which do you think of first and why? curious as I ought to think more about uniforms first heh so perhaps some other perspectives will cure me of my nasty habit heh.
Theres no both option, MP40 was only recent, but I bought guns and kit at the same time ready for CR 
Guns mate, allways. But technically, I got my gear first as I have been doing WW2 re-enacting since 1999, and got WW2 AEG's once I realised their was a ww2 airsoft movement.
When It came out I thought the Marui Thompson would be a pile of poo just like my Armashite, so steared clear, until the F&O game last year.

I tend to get guns first - I love collecting weapons, then due to the weirdly sized mags (now at AK, M16 and MP40 types) I build a loadout around it.
I'd say get a uniform first, then you look the part as you can use a 'count-as' gun from then on until you get a period weapon. Where as if you get a period weapon and run around in civvies... ...that looks just pants for both yourself and the others playing.

I purchased all my Uniform & Webbing First then my M1 Carbine in the reenacting world.
The way i see it with at least a uniform you can borrow a Weapon, but your not much use in your undies with a Garand for example hehe
Uniform then Weapon. Because I take very long to decide which weapon I want.
Example: I got my '58 pattern, US BDU shirt, jungle boots, etc, before I got my AK-74.
