Hi I need to tap into the knowledge fountain.
What is the correct method for attaching the Y straps to the rear of the belt. I have seen the metal clip just slipped under the belt (Tried that method and it seems to come off unless standing perfectly still). On the Kit guide Fallschimjaeger picture it appears to be attached to a D ring? Is there a correct method or acceptable or practicable way?

You can do either. My Luftwaffe straps have a naff clip, so D-rings are required. However, my Heer ones have a bendy metal clip, so can be attached reasonably securely. Also, once you have some weight on the belt kit, then gravity will help make it more secure.

And one thing that a lot of people try to do is wear the belt far too low down. It isn't a waist belt, it should be worn no lower than the naval - I wear mine in the solar plexus area. I had to make a number of new holes in my LW ones to get the right height.

Thanks i think I am now going in the right direction then the clip seems quite big and not bendy so the D ring may fix that problem
Cheers

Yeah, my LW clips are very stiff metal, covered in a thin plastic. When I tried bending one with pliers, some of the plastic broke off!

D-rings always come in handy and are pretty cheap - Anthony at http://www.militaria-net.co.uk usually has 'em in stock. :good:
