Initially, you will only be allowed a minimum of kit. In addition to any paperwork/pocket litter that you have, you will be allowed the following items.
Small bag/valise (a breadbag or small pack are ideal).
Period torch.
Waterbottle.
Food.
Compass.
Escape map (this will be provided).
Small knife.
Everything else should be packed in your rucksack, which you will have to recover at some point on the first day.

Waterbottles in bags or slung on belts/straps? I guess we don't want to look too much like soldiers...
Notebook and pencil?
'appropriate clothing' including rain covers if needed is taken as read?
