You're spot on in the second part of your question Rich, One mag only. Or in the case of a Tanaka K98, lets say up to 4 mags with real steel loads of 5 rounds each to simulate having some extra stripper clips.

My Lee Enfield mags take between 12 and 20 depending how worn the feed tube is. So 2 or 3 mags with 10 rounds apiece??

I slightly wonder if the impression of 'no shooting' is putting some people off booking either as British or German, certainly when I've talked about the game to a couple of three of my local WW2 airsoft pals, that is what they've said. Maybe it is worth mentioning on the main forum that it is not outside the bounds of possibility that the Germans will get some guns, and maybe a bit more about what the British might be doing?

I'd hate the game not to run for lack of numbers, but I know it is early days yet.

Truth is, it won't be very shooty. If the Brits do engage the Germans I can't imagine the firefight will last more than five minutes.

What I would speak to your friends about is the enjoyment of the anticipation of engagement. About the challenges and excitement around finding the enemy, rather than running in guns blazing. All of the best WW2 airsoft moments I've had have been between the shooting. The set-up, anticipation and patient waiting are far more enjoyable than the blatty bit where everyone hides behind a tree just out of range.

You can talk about how cool it is to spend 30 minutes slowly creeping up on someone to get in range. About how walking down a track can set your heart racing at the thought of an ambush. About how narrowly escaping from a firefight intact is better than firing your last round and skulking away to reload.

This is about immersion and mindset, not about firing people for 24 hours.

Oh sure. Some games (even the more 'blatty' ones) I've hardly fired a shot all day. I just think there is a difference between the possibility of an engagement and the impression that there isn't going to be any combat at all.

I shall continue to fight the good fight however

I think CWs post probably sums up what to expect (or what I expect to expect ) quite well. Its a hard balance to strike in terms of advertising for an event like this. Obviously you need to attract people to it or it can't run but many may be put off by the apparent lack of shooting. It is technically airsoft after all so I guess you can't blame them for being confused over the lack of shooting. You just need to convince those who are borderline on the shooting or are willing to give something different a go and hopefully they will enjoy it regardless of any actual shooting there may or may not be. Personally I plan to avoid any actual shooting as much as possible.

Thats what I hoped you meant. I rarely carry a sidearm anyway; unless I'm using a rifle over 350 I'll usually stick to a main only. Too much of an airsoftery thing to always need a backup when your average soldier didn't have one. I'll probably just stick with a pistol anyway.

Quoted for truth! Chomley summed it up very well in his post. We're not interested in striking a balance and we will not cater for the blatters just to get bums on seats, I'd rather jack it in altogether than have a bunch of idiots running around trying to rack up kills and ruining a gameplan , because most of them are dicks I wouldn't want to be on the same site with, let alone play alongside of.

If Hut 9 doesn't happen, that's me finished with WW2 airsoft . I put far too much work in on Foxley and this to see them both fail! I hope that it doesn't come to that but, I am seeking something very specific from WW2 games. If I wanted a mindless blat, there are hundreds of sites that I could go to on any given weekend. I can't get my head around the people who want open days in WW2 kit!

Anyhow, I digress! As escaped POW's, any shooting will be an absolute last resort, as it will bring everything the Brit's have down on you and make escape nigh on impossible.

Well I'm in total agreement here.

I think it is early days yet as far as booking is concerned though, hopefully there will be an upturn once Easter is out of the way. I guess the important thing is as there isn't much shooting involved to entice the Home Guard/Brits by emphasising that they are not just wandering around while the POWs have all the challenges and all the fun.
