Ok saw a German Pioneer Comment of Yeah I like Blowing S*** up, Does it for me and we need brave Stormtoopers.
Thought I would knock some of these up, I am thinking 3 in a box (which you will need to carry around with you not so heavy, as the explosive is only 25cm long) which will be designed so you can then put the pyro in before attaching it to the obstacles.Gives a little flavour of being there.

(Boshman are you going to give them those small electrical operated explosives which you use in the mines to use??)

Enjoy-- attachment is not available --

Fantastic Gordon :good: Yes the plan is to use Electric det Maroons for the demolition pyro. So place pyro on target connect wires from reel. spool out cable to safe distance, connector to detonator and then boom! I had been planning to make some of the 3kg charges for blowing obstacles and the AT guns but these look just the ticket for that job :good:

I will be making some large hollow charges to blow the big gun with!

How many can you make?

We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."

Not sure how I worded the original message might have mislead things. I was just going to make 3 of these and put them inside a small carrying case. The idea was they would have to carry the case around then get the maroon out of a small compartment which I will build into the carry case, not blow one of these up, they are solid wood!!!

I could try and adapt them maybe with cardboard so that you could put the maroon inside them?? Yes that is what I will do I have a Maroon here so know the size.

Will get back onto it and update as and when with a new prototype.

Do we need a wooden case for the mortar rounds??? I know Mattywheels the mortar man wants to lug kit around

Oh yes please! Anything that means i can't move on the sunday is good for me! Seriously though, if it improves the 'realism' of the event, then i'm all for it.

I can bring you an original Mortar bomb carrier to lug about if you want? You will get fed up with it...

Thanks for the offer Poacher, but i wouldn't trust myself with anything original & valuable! If Gordon can knock something together out of wood, well...that's a different story..!

Put that on the list of things to do.

OK had a go at making real blow upable one of these out of cardboard and it will look the same so will be cutting cardboard all day tomorrow.

Boshman How many would you like me to build `realistically`

OK been busy with the prototype, who would have thought it was so hard to blow S**t up!

1st pic has `wooden` High explosive look a like with stiker det cord attached. The one above is a cardboard one which can be blown to pieces. Left off the attachments as I didn`t want cord and dowel flying across the battlefield.

2nd pic shows that a Maroon can be inserted in the end and then pushed right down inside, not forgetting to leave the det wires out  before charging heroically into the fire to blow an obstacle up.

If this is suitable the Deutsche sprengstofffabrik will be in full swing. Just had to change the wording on the new wrappers as my cleaver  Frau said Hohe Sprengstoff gibts nicht? apparently German explosives were of such high quality they did not need the word Hohe (High) just explosive. Can`t believe it she has never read a Commando Comic what does she know?-- attachment is not available ---- attachment is not available --

Excellent Gordon :good:

Yes sorry I did miss understand your original post as I though they we destructable like the TNT ones we made for Il Giogo Pass. Although those used long fuse crow scarers instead of marrons.

New one looks perfect. might be a good idea to fill them with fullers earth or similar to ad a bit of weight and a bit more "blast" when they go off!

Fullers earth seems expensive per 100g, what about flour?? Would that give a suitable cloud of smoke??

Next up onto the Signs all the Stencils cut

Flour can be explosive under the right conditions - 'clumping' cat litter is made from fullers earth (bentonite), so cheap bought that way, but if it is granulated then it will need to be pulverised to avoid the shrapnel effect of flying grit!

Agreed in my job flour is sometimes a component to HME.
Cat litter sounds an awfully hard way about getting an effect grinding it up but no one wants one in the eye.
Any takers to grind stuff up preferably not used :(

Heh, I did it for one job in the wife's blender (in small batches) and burnt the thing out
All I needed to do was pound it with a bit of 2"x2" in a bucket but I took the lazy route and paid the price.

The AFRA boys use cement for their pyro effects as it is cheap and non-combustable/flammable - but having been on the wrong end of a cement cloud and got it in the eyes it isn't my favourite choice unless a distant effect away from punters.

Cheap talc from the pound shop might be an option? I used to use that in Claymores, the cheap stuff smells dreadful!
