Right guys we just want to ask for some little favours for some kit for the event for the specialist pioneers and for each zug.
We need each Zug to have an ammo tin for ammo reloads, this will be carried by one member of each zug. So I have an MG42 tin so we just need two more and i know some of you guys will have one that you can bring along.
For the pioneer guys can we ask that you are able to have two items for the event:
1) Some form of watch or stopwatch and 2) a set of wire cutters
now these of course don't have to be authentic but if you have them then thats even better and use of these items will be explained via a PM here or a five minute chin wag at the event.
Cheers for your help guys. :good:

think they are what pride of england will have.
if not mate just some cheapo ones will be fine, you can get from pound shops and the like just try to hide them if they are the bright plastic handles on them. may be able to have a look through my old tool kit when i get chance to see if i got something suitable if you end up struggling. :good:

I have two original ammo tins which I'll bring along with my MG42 and 5cm mortar

Is it wire cutters for barbed wire cutting or electrical wire cutting?

Those are post war but identical to wartime ones except for the grips which should be Bakelite.

Despite these being described as the "small" wire cutters they are actually pretty big around 18" long. If they are for stripping electrical wire then they are pretty useless but for cutting barbed wire, perfect!

I have a pair with an original leather carrier which I'll bring. :good:

I also have a pionier axe/hammer with carrier if it would be useful?

So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."

It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."

Good point mate, should have made that clear. the cutters are for barbed wire. the wire we are using though is reasonably small gauge so should not need a massive pair of bolt croppers to get through. but if anyone else has something suitable then help your pioneers out to get you onto the ruski's. :good:
