where did this rumour of a forgotten mine detector come from? Deadbloke, Doc and I walked it down to the road ourselves before calling in the artillery strikes. We called off mine sweeping to take the other two CPs down the road and finished the job while the germans were busy defending their bunkers :)

and it was three commando survivors ;) out of nine admittedly

Probably the same souce that said the Allies dropped three shells into the German occupied CPA and cleared it out, then as they rushed in to take it got wiped out themselves by the remaining three of six shells ordered landing on them.

Heh, gets confusing doesn't it. Our intel was two mines were undetected which had to be recovered on Sunday.
Meh, whatever - you did manage to do your bit for recycling I gather, digging up all manner of scrap metal. Bugger missed a trick there - we put down a lot of decoy holes but I should have stolen Nigel's knives and forks and buried them for decoys!

funny enough, we did spot the german vehicle drive over said 2 undetected mines on sunday too ;) the road looked like the bloody wombles had been at it by the end of the day lol

was an interesting mission, however, maybe a little long winded as it meant the mine sweepers missed both lunch and the final assault on the german bunkers...........but still, it was a campaign thing for Carentan, and we didnt wanna start it with one round per man as was mentioned by Josh

Indeed, the allies only lossed 2 tons of equipment rather than all 8, also lets not forget to mention the 15 bars of nazi gold, of which 10 were found and 5 have fallen into allied hands. LOL I had a ball and was a pleasure to see such a great bunch of guys enjoying the senario and playing it out by the book. Big thanks to the guys that helped the set up and take down, we cant run these events without their help.

Battle report to follow:)

The sniper duels that weekend were a real joy - I was the US infantry with the Enfield #4 and yes, it had a few problems ;) I only got the hopup working Sunday morning, but then the trigger broke down and I had to step our for half an hour to fix it.

Still, when it was working, I had so much fun chasing the kraut snipers back and forth with another infantryman watching my back. I definitely need to do some more work to get the shots a bit more consistent, then we'll see! Hats off to both snipers and your support teams, you did a great job all weekend.

And I never found out if my tripmines actually killed anyone - any germans willing to admit to setting off the one on the track between the crossroads CP (D on your maps I think) and the food hall on Sunday? :)

Wow this sounds like a fantasic game. Good to see people 'fessing up to sniper hits (and not just pretending it was a stray). Great pics too
