Currently just an MP40 (well, two actually), but I'm trying to rectify that.

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier

The angle does make it look very short like a G33/40 but I think it is actually a K98k as the rear sight doesn't look to be enclosed within the woodwork as it is on the G33/40.

The but stock is cut out of the photos which would be one of the big give-aways.

So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."
Adolf Hitler, November 1942

It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."

I'm pretty sure that is a K98. The stock band spring appears to be visible on the right hand side whilst on a G33/40 it is on the left. Plus the handguard doesn't appear to extend as far forward as it does on the G33, which is level with the lower stock.
I'm not worried about using a 33 since, as that photo just prooved, you can't tell the difference unless you're very close. However I do still want a K98 springer. :slap:

Its a great pic BTW. I wonder how he has his gasmask can attached so high up on his back?

Attached to the Y-strap D-rings in some way maybe? :?

EDIT actually he doesnt appear to be wearing any Y-straps so how the hell is his can and Zelt attached??

Yes, it's a great pic - obviously early war. Zeltbahn was usually attached to the belt, and gasmask cannister with its own straps.

See, that proves CiA aren't stitch-counters. We all knew that his shoulderboards were bollox but too polite to say.
