I can just be a grunt, footslogging pongo, or whatever the Axis slang for that is
"Frontschwein" - smells like an animal, lives in the mud and is led to his death.
"Frontscwein" I Kinda like that

As well as 'front swine', the infantry were also referred to as 'stubble hoppers' too!

I wouldn't mention the SH name on here too often !!
Whoooooops my bad
i take it its one of these fictional/post war terms that get used in books etc then?

Just for clarification the term SH was also a previous forum members moniker, his brother was a FS
Hopefully clears things a little

Having had a read through am very tempted to badge up my m36 tunic as jager now, does anthony sell the metal jager cap badge, as i cant find it on the website, only the sew on variety!
Also thanks for clearing things up re the SH comment

He does sell them. I got mine off him. They are on his website somewhere, just keep looking.
Edit - here you go, linky http://militaria-net.co.uk/oscommerce/c ... cts_id/869

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
Thanks, i must have looked straight at it too, as i looked on that page ![]()

Also whats the difference in appearance between the jager and regular infantry collar litzen, also again does anyone have a link to where i can get some.
also how far down does the jager badge need to be on the right sleeve?

There are specific and generic Litzen. The generic one suits all types of unit, whereas the specific ones have the particular colour associated with that unit - mid-green for Jäger, for example. For that reason, you might want to get the generic Litzen, so you won't have to change it if you decide to portray a different unit. www.regaliaspecialist.co.uk or www.militaria-net.co.uk would be my recommendations.
I don't know the exact distance the arm badge should be - roughly half way between the shoulder and elbow, perhaps slightly lower.

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Top of badge level with top of breast pocket.

Danke! ![]()

Jäger badge should be 16cm down from the shoulder seam.
Cap badge should at 45 degrees to the vertical and 2cm back from the peak of the cap and 2.5cm up from the bottom edge.
All of which I discovered after sowing mine on. ![]()

Cheers for all the help guys, am about to take the plunge and buy the insignia.
One last thing is i'm buying my shoulder boards from anthony, i've gone for the green piped moutain ones, is the green the same?
Also just to make sure i'm getting all the jager specific insignia at once, just to confirm its:
Metal Jager cap badge
Jager sleeve badge
Green piped shoulder boards
I will be using the generic heer litzen that came with the m36, finally correct positioning for following:
Collar Litzen, seems a no brainer i know, but i'm sure theres a specific distance from collar edge etc
Heer Breast Eagle, hight above pocket?
Obergefrieter sleeve chevrons, how far down the sleeve?
Reason i ask is that the tunic had the insignia sewn on when i bought it, but will move them if need be, as i think the eagle is to low down and one of the litzen has come, so needs some work anyway.
Anyway all help greatly appreciated.
Cheers Phil

As regards the colour of green piping - it is the same as Gebirsjäger (mountain troops) - it should be mid-green (my description) - not light green. Some suppliers confuse the two.

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Well thats my items ordered, all ordered from anthony, so watch this space for a new jager recruit

Collar Litzen, seems a no brainer i know, but i'm sure theres a specific distance from collar edge etc
Heer Breast Eagle, hight above pocket?
Obergefrieter sleeve chevrons, how far down the sleeve?
Litzen- no specific distance but enough space to fit tresse around the edge of the collar should you get 'promoted'
Eagle- About level with the second button. I usually sew mine so the bottom is almost touching the top of the pocket.
Chrevons- about 14-15 cm down the sleeve from the shoulder.
Unfortunately I had to part with the Konig jacket to fund the FG. The jacket was a tad tight on me and has gone to one of the regs on my site. So I'm going to have to hang up my Jager membership. I'm still regular Heer / Landser though, even the FG is Heer, someone's got to keep an eye on you lot ![]()
( ok and make tea for Forester &Jd7

Fantastic Zero, one less job for me
