The Landser group is a group for anyone who wants to portray a German Army (Heer) soldier to a reasonable degree of accurateness. As such, kit requirements go above and beyond the basic CiA kit. We are not "stitch counters", but if anybody asks for comments / advice, we will give it... in the nicest possible way, of course!

Within the Landser group as a whole, we portray more than one type of unit. If people wish to start a sub-group to portray a particular unit, feel free.

BASIC KIT REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIALS
Wool Feldgrau tunic and trousers, or HBTs. (Camoflage clothing was not very common, so let's keep it to a minimum - Feldgrau is best.)
Werhmacht eagle, worn above right chest pocket.
Litzen - collar tabs. (Type will depend upon impression.)
Shoulderboards. (Type will depend upon impression.)
Marching boots (jackboots) or short boots and gaiters.
Enlisted man's belt and buckle
M35 or M42 helmet
or
Side cap / ski cap with eagle & cockade
A German weapon KAR98, MP40, MP44, etc. Captured Allied weapons were not uncommon, but German preferred.

NICE TO HAVE
OK, this stuff is not essential, but much of it is useful when skirmishing, and it all adds to the look.

Y-straps - leather (preferred) or canvas (tropical) acceptable.
Suitable magazine pouches.
Kragenbinde - collar liner for the tunic.
Zeltbahn - A triangular piece of cloth, usually carried rolled up. Can be worn as a rain cape or a long camo smock. Check out http://www.zeltbahn.com Heer units would have splinter pattern camo.
Water canteen
Gas mask tin - I remove the mask and use it for storage space.
Bread bag - green. Good for storage.
Mess tins.
A-frame
Bayonet
Entrenching tool

NO-NO.

Any Waffen SS pattern camo gear
Pea dot, oakleaf, etc

Splinter pattern and (rarely) tan & water are the only patterns used by Heer.

I'd so no to Italian Camo unless you're representing troops in the Italian theatre. Even then it should be quite limited- a zelt/poncho or helmet cover at most. It was very rarely used by heer troops outside of that theatre, unlike the SS who used quite a lot. Plus decent repros are expensive.

Yes, I would concur with Lardy. We are wanting to go for a generic look that could be used in any European theatre - thereby also making ourselves suited for pretty much any event scenario that comes up.

What is the Landser group? Hmm… good question, and one I've been considering recently.

My initial aim was to have a group that trains together occasionally, and has a high kit standard. With the relative abundance of WWII airsoft events now, there is much less opportunity to organise a training day that everyone can attend. And indeed, make it worth while for people to travel hours to and from. I personally do not have the training skills required - I would simply be doing a poor imitation of those who really know what they're talking about.

Regarding kit standards, there is no real reason why the kit discussions can't be moved into a general Heer section instead - it has long been the case that kit discussions / standards in general sections are not "official" CiA standards for CiA events. (All events have their own kit requirement discussion.)

So, there it is - from my point-of-view, the Landser group is effectively inactive (if indeed, it ever became active!). If somebody wants to try and breathe new life into it, and give it a raison d' être, then let me know; otherwise we'll be changing this to a general Heer discussion section.

Why don't we 'form up' at each event we attend so have a Heer area, know who is coming as Heer and do the group thing that way? I can only attend a few events at the moment so I like to make the best of each one and get in a dizzying panic at each one as I am clueless about what is the 'correct' kit or what I should be doing. You can only go so far without talking to people face to face and seeing what they mean?

How about at Loop we line up the camp beds as per a barracks and do a kit inspection/ meet and great and generally discuss Heer command structure, tactics for the game, etc to help numb nuts like me?

Gav, you're not that bad mate! (Although I notice you sometimes put your tunic on back to front. )

I'm sure the Heer Kameraden will naturally flock together anyway.

I think it fits me better that way!

Who is going to Loop as Heer so we can save enough spaces in one place!
