Daft question:

I've got a complete (genuine) 1940s civilian police loadout, (complete with the pointy hat!) and been waiting for a Sealion/Homefront game for years. Any chance of being able to use it?

As a side note, there will be a few subplots and submissions for various people, which will be known only to them. This will be very different to all events run prior to it, drawing on many different elements for inspiration. It will cater for most tastes and, feel free to pm me if you have any requests or specific questions for "character" roles. Our aim is to keep it fluid, exciting and very unpredicatable for all concerned, even the organisers!

This sounds like a brilliant game, but back to the packs.... should I decide to be an escapee, my sleeping bag will be in my bergen, not in my tent. So, if I get captured, will there be some way of being reunited with my sleeping gear? Also, will we be lugging our packs around with us once we have them?

Although I am not renowned for travelling light, I don't really want to bring two sleeping bags, double up on the rations etc. nor overfill something I'm going to have to carry for 24 hours.

Cheers

Yes, sleeping kit in bergan. If captured you will be reunited with kit. Yes, you may have to relocate cached gear during game but we will avoid it if at all possible, it isn't part of the gameplan. You will really be travelling light (the cached kit is a convenience/concession) and you are only carrying satchel/suitcase etc.

Do you have some ideas of how we will cover really lost or injured casualties. There seems to be some danger we could leave someone behind at the end of the game? Conversely and I have been there doing this, if someone gets cold and sods off home how do we know not to be looking for him the day after because we are a German or Home Guard short at roll call.

Good questions and, taken with the same consideration that any other responsible organiser would show for any other event. Each and every German will and must carry a whistle for emergency use. Also, as the site is basically circular with the British HQ in the middle and tracks radiating from it, it is very easy to make your way back to it if needed. If someone did decide to "sod off", I'd consider it common courtesy for them to at least report to the HQ before they did so. The gates will be locked as well, so, noone can just bugger off without asking David to unlock the gate for them. It's never happened at a CiA event before and I'm sure it won't at this one, as anyone with any intelligence will know what the event is about when they book onto it. I find it strange that you need to ask this question for this particular event, as there's as much chance, if not more, of people getting lost or "left behind" occurring at say, Eversley, or the Sandpit!

None of this happened at Jedburgh or Schaulen, at vast, much bigger, more challenging sites, with much more potential for getting lost or injured, so, it should not happen here. However, we do have plans should anything happen, as much as any organiser can plan for such eventualities. Both Steve and I are trained first aiders and, should the need arise, we can evac a no duff casualty to Kettering A&E as well.

I've added these safety details to stickied posts. All players should consider a watch, compass, torch and whistle as essential items to carry on the person for safety and game play reasons. It isn't essential that they are 'period' looking - but the watch & compass should be functional (my compass looks great but shite to navigate with :slap: ) and the torch must be a low powered conventional bulb thing. If you wish to carry on your person a bright, modern torch for H&S reasons that is fine, just don't use it in game.

Would an ARP be a suitable look for a Brit? I'd imagine some of them might have volunteered to join in the hunt. I don't own much in the way of Brit kit but I do have an ARP helmet (my great grandads) and the rest isn't too expensive.

Would the Brits also have use for a bicycle? I may final have mine fixed by June.

I have a large ARP/Civil Defence type black wool BD blouse I can lend you, and some black pebbled-leather civilian boots, and black leather 'home front' gaiters, if I do make it to the game.

If I do manage to make it to this game, I may have my MkV* restored in time...

As the local bobby, I'm looking at getting a suitable bike in time.

I'm assuming my Trek road bike with the carbon fibre forks won't be acceptable?

Heh. I nearly bought a new push rod bike a few years ago (retro kit still made!) and wondered about bringing my nothing-out-of-the-ordinary bike to this event (but I don't have the room or a bike carrier). The radial and outer ring roadways will probably be OK for bikes in June as long as there isn't persistent rain for weeks.

Cheers McV. I hopefully won't need it but the blouse could be very handy. I was just going to go for some overalls otherwise. Unless a German POW wants the blouse as they also got BD?

If I do manage to make it to this game, I may have my MkV* restored in time..

Be good if you could, even if your bike will put my bodged together look a like bike to shame. :raspberry:

As the local bobby, I'm looking at getting a suitable bike in time.

Should you fail you're welcome to use mine. As previously mentioned with the BD I'm hoping I won't need it.

Thinking about making a set of replica rifle clips to go back onto my bike in time, if the rest of the restoration gets done in good time.

I probably won't be riding the bike much - probably just leave it resting up against a tree while I tie a loose shoe lace, or sit with my back turned to it to take a swig from my canteen....

ta! I might have my SMLE available if you want to use that? Assuming I can get the hop replaced, and it fixes it, anyway. I've got a revolver, and that'll probably do me. If i can get a LARP truncheon in time, all the better.

Cheers but I'm hoping to not need a weapon at all. If I do have need of my ARP kit I may just have a pistol and maybe a BF shotgun for effect.

Larp-safe gas rattle or stirrup pump, perhaps?
