1. What level of personal kit is expected? Things like razor, issue mirror, cardboard towels and so on - are they expected?
2. Sleeping bag - can it be modern?
3. Food we bring with us. Should it look like WWII period food (whatever that may be) or is modern all right?
4, Will a DSLR be frowned upon? Will a small cam attached to the uniform (A Go Pro) be frowned upon?

1. No expectations, personal choice.
2. Your own choice of bedding materials
3. Again, your choice.
4. Don't sling an SLR over your shoulder for gawdsake, that is a real atmosphere killer! But if you want to grab a snap of two that's fine. Can't stand cam footage personally and I don't think footage will be very interesting anyway. Did you see BedsnHerts professional coverage of the Hauptmann Horn game?

No, that wasn't my intention. The camera stays in the bag when not in use.

This one?

Not exactly what I mean. A Go Pro can capture some 5-6h of footage at high speed. Sometimes interesting things can be caught on film and edited into a 5min highlight reel. I can make the camera fairly unobtrusive (it's tiny), possibly even disguised as a personal dressing with just the thumb-sized lens sticking out of the wrapper.

Ok, no, those were just random questions. I'm not going to try that on my first event. Forget I asked :)

Some more questions:

Is it a regular airsoft site?
How likely are we to encounter MOPs?
Since it's going to be woodland are biodegradable BBs required/encouraged?

It is a proper insurance covered commercially run airsoft site. But there is nothing 'airsoft' about it - no built structures, tyre walls, pallets and all that junk.

It is rural woodland. There are dog walkers. The site is well signed that airsoft is being run in the woods. On recce we did encounter MOP who were very nice and inquisitive but given the nature of the game there is no need to go apoplectic and screaming cease fire if MOP are encountered - a polite warning word will probably be sufficient. As always, take each incident on it's merit, make a value judgement, and act on it.

Biodegradable is fine if you wish but not a site requirement. (I doubt 200 BBs over 100 acres would be of any significance environmentally but there you go...)

Unequivocally yes, damn paperwork needs sorting by someone! Shorthand to 80 wpm preferred. Typing with not less than two fingers essential. Rubber stamping deftness absolute necessity.

Would the organisers be prepared in assisting me, with spiking my other half with 72 hrs worth of the stuff they gave Mr T to get him on a plane?

Sadly, it's the only way in Hell I'd be able to attend, particularly seeing as I'm tentatively scribbling myself in for Avellino. I think one game a month is about the limit according to senior management.

Wish you all the best with it, really interesting idea. I'm sure it'll be a good one. :good:

That depends on what you consider to be 'in a month' - I'd work on the principal of add the number of games you attend over a year then divide by 12. If the answer is more than one then she has a fair point. In any case, it makes sense to get as many fine weather games in as you can and do the house decorating in the winter months (or whatever it is that enforces domestic imprisonment).

I personally work on the principle that if I am a complete liability and nuisance in the house then wifelet is only too pleased to get shot of me for a weekend. Or three.

Yeah, but I'm the very model of a modern manly man, hence the reason parting is so hard to bear.

It generally averages out at one weekend a month... for Airsoft. Tack on football, wargaming and more and it adds up. Domestic incarceration isn't a burden I've ever had to endure, but I'm also wary of not taking the piss in the best interests of maintaining a balance of domestic bliss. :)

Ditch the wargaming - she would think so much more of you. And bonus of more time for Airsoft. My logic is flawless.

Nonsense, I war game purely for the chicks. It's a veritable pussy magnet. In fact, I recall I wooed her with tales of cupping my D6 firmly in my hands as I surveyed the battlefield with a steely gaze.

That and my toy soldiers are my only real friends. Though even they're prone to moments of doubt.

* Shows wifelet https://www.games-workshop.com/gws//home.jsp?_requestid=893176 *

Hells teeth you are right, worked like a charm. She fell asleep directly, relieving me of the chore of marital obligations. Domestic bliss indeed - thank you, I see the light!

All in a days service, sir. All in days service. :)

To be fair, she may have passed out in shock at the price as opposed to fallen asleep. I admit I've had more enjoyment from airsoft, than I've ever got from GW, even the risk of getting machine gunned in the face at point blank range is better than forking out £80 for a glorified Airfix kit.

I apologise, as i'm dragging this thread bat shit crazily off topic. Suffice to say though, this looks a great idea for a game. I wish you all the best with it. Considering in an hour I'll have thirty kids sat infront of me, being hunted through the woods by Home Guard seems like a vacation. :good:

Glad to see this game back on again, but sadly I wont be able to come as I'm away. The curse of summer games, particularly July/August when I'm often either away at weekends or working.

Hope it goes well.

Cheers

I can only echo this.

I'm not sure I can take any more bad news this week. Hut 9 back on but on the one weekend I definitely can't make in July/August and this coming so closely after my Messina disappointment. What's the third one going to be - that AGS are putting on Chariot at the one weekend I have away (other than Copenhagen) between September and December? Oh Woe!

Hope it goes well.

Cheers

All these other things, surely they aren't that important. If there is one game to go to this year this is probbaly it. It wil be a shame to not have you all there.
