The address for UCAP Sandpit is:
Swanscombe Park Quarry
Roman Road
Dartford
DA2 8AH

If you are approaching from the M25 or anywhere west of that, the site entrance is a turnoff on the LEFT (north) side of the A296 Roman Road. There will be a sign saying AGS
NOTE: Make sure to keep in the right-hand lane when leaving the A2, otherwise you will be funneled off towards Bluewater.

For those who came to the Crete event last year, you'll know there is a nice big building you can stay in - just bring your camp bed, etc. There are toilets and water onsite. There will be a shop selling BBs, gas, bangs and smokes. You can stay over both Friday and Saturday night, although you will need to get up and out promptly on Sunday morning, so the UCAP open day players don't have to step over you!

There will be a mandatory game and safety briefing at 9am, after which you will have about 10 minutes final prep before moving out at 9.30. Make sure you give yourself enough time to sign in, get your weapon and all your kit together and mag up. This is doubly important if you are borrowing stuff. You MUST be ready to rock'n'roll by 09:30.

The site has a gate which will be locked at certain times. Details of this, and who to call, etc, will be posted later.

Ploppy and I will be travelling up on the friday. So, I was wondering what time we are allowed on site for the evening? Im just trying to judge traffic and stuff since you're just off the M25. :D

You should be able to get on the site from 18.00 hours Friday, we will sort out a number to go on the gate that you can call.

Any chance there will be someone earlier? Or if the security guards will oblige?

To avoid Friday M25/Dartford crossing nonsense/ trafiic, I was planning on driving down early afternoon? No problem if you can't I'll just hang around for a few hours

RETIRED, thanks for some truly memorable times and great people

Ditto, on previous occasions I've usually aimed for 4.00 to 4.30 to minimise the horror of M1, M25 and Dartford crossing in the Friday afternoon rush hour.

Cheers

I'm sure a gate party would be fun, but with more than three cars it'll back up into that huge queue of traffic on the A2. I suppose we could camp in the car park at Bluewater for a few hours, or the MacDonalds in Dartford is.....interesting.

What time are you thinking of coming down Tim?

Cheers

I'd far rather not be on the M25 at 5pm on Friday ,if anybody is going to be aground the area parked up I'd join the party .

Bluewater could be fun dressed in my Lufty gear :)

But anywhere around there had the same traffic problems at that time of the day :)

Yes, the prospect is utterly dismal. The MacDonalds in Dartford is quietish at 4.30 but a scene of seething hell by 5pm. I can't even begin to imagine what Bluewater would be like on a Friday evening. There is a little lane on the right a bit further down the A2 beyond the site (I found that when I got lost the first time I went to UCAP) but I expect it will be full of doggers by 5.

Well, lets see what the organisers say.

Its quite funny as an AA man you rescue people from all sorts of "odd places " ,in my area there are two places ,one on the hogs back A31 that is for doggers and one on the A3 just off the M25 that's popular with single men .for some reason people broken down in these places are not bothered at all if you can fix the car ,they just want to know how quickly I can tow them away  .

Ha ha, yes I've pulled in there on the way down to Goodwood Revival in the Sunbeam Alpine after the nearside front brake locked on and smoke started pouring out as we came off the M25. Needless to say I was dressed as a 2nd Lt Royal Artillery (5th Anti Aircraft Division) and the girlfriend at the time was in full Land Army get up (oh yes...). It took the RAC man (sorry Gav) to point out that as it would take several hours for recovery we might want to try driving home slowly rather than hanging around there. It was then that we had a look around and what had registered only subconsciously suddenly became very apparent! I'm glad I wasn't on my own!

I have a small skewer hidden in the collar of my jumping jacket, and a razorblade in my gaiter, as well as my knife.

Just saying there seems quite a bit of knowledge being shared about these sites! 'I was just there to try and get directions away from there....yeah ok!' :giggle: :ghey:

It looks like I can save your blushes gentlemen. I am aiming to be onsite at 3pm and hoping a member of staff will be there to let me in. We were hoping to be able to use this time to set up the scene but as it stands I'm not sure how this will work out.
I do ask that if you arrive early on site that you stay in the safe zone and don't wander off for a jolly to recce the site, it would be nice to keep some things set up for the game. Please also remember that it is a locked and secure site so not really ideal for you to arrive then go in and out of the gate to maccy D or blue water for a shopping trip. I'll be manning the gate to start with and after that will leave a sign on the gate with a mobile number for you to call if you turn up and no one is there. I won't be there later in the evening but will leave the phone behind, don't expect a polite or sober response if you're planning on turning up late at night!

All noted, and great.

Let me know if I can help. Even if it is to let people in so that you aren't continuously interrupted if you are setting up.
I can even help if you want kit moved across site.
