Welcome to the forum. New to both Airsoft and WW2? Better give your wallet some warning, this becomes an addiction :D

To answer your question about "groups", most Airsoft sites operate as pay-and-play type organisations. Just turn up on the day, pay your green fee and play. Some operate as clubs, but they're in the minority.

Regarding WW2 Airsoft games, some sites do run them, but the CiA games are rapidly becoming the focal point for WW2 'softers in the UK.

Hope that helps a bit!

If you live in Sheffield... you live in the main hub of airsofting in the north. Loads of good sites... and my home town!

Nice one - good to know i'm in the thick of the action!

@ Kermit, got you on the groups thing. I've been looking at re-enactors sites and thought that airsoft would be a similar thing (you battle with a group etc).

I do have some bits of kit but i guess theres loads more to buy to get a good impression going - are air softers 'rivet counters' like the re-enacting crowd seem to be?

LOL, you get all types. From the 100% authenticity freaks to those that take a more conservative view on things. Thats the beauty of WW2 Airsoft, you take it to a level *you* want to - not to a level that *others* think you should

welcome

start of cheap, and see if you like it.

you can buy cheap aegs now. a gun, charger, battry, speadloader will only set you back 100 to 150 quid.

play in a game with "resistance", and you dont even have to buy a uniform.

just to see if you like it.

WHEN you do like it, book your Wallet, credit card, remortgage or loans in for some therapy, they will need it.

ive found sending my bank manager some valium helps :D

At least the guns seem alot cheaper than buying the real deal wartime ones.

I've got a few deacs stashed away which i might try to sell to fund the hobby, so hopefully it won't hit me in the pocket to hard

Well it depends...

An airsoft No4 will put you back more than a deac...

An airsoft M1A1 will put you back less than a deac... but won't have wood on it!

In the end it sort of evens out.

What deacs do you have to sell anyway?

Don't sell the MG34! good ones with matching numbers are getting more and more difficult to find. K98's however, still loads of good 'uns around at places like Ryton's :)

why would he buy a thompson or no 4 yith, :)

the gentleman clearly wishes to represent the GLOURIOUS GERMAN ARMY

his name picture and deact list clearly state his taste ,
buy an mp40 aldertag only 140 quid , and join the ranks of the winning side.

on a serious note aldertag, both sets of kit are a must (allied one and an axis one), then whenever an event comes up and you like one side/objective/era/ or any other reason, you can do what you like)

having fun, talking stiches, actually shooting for fun, in all its just an all round great day out.

also, all the people ive spoken to who are in to the ww2 theme, (at the december event or open days ) seem to be friendly and approachable, and not aloof (not what a lot of the LEET DELTA/SAS clicky moderern softers seem to be)

Yup, i definately swing more towards the Axis side of things :)

After some consideration, I think I fancy getting a Herman Goering division impression together - which, I hope to get muckied up at the next big event!

Now, wheres that credit card.....

As another newbie to the sport and the forum I thought I'd say hello as well.. Not trying to hijack Adlertag's thread- thought it'd save starting my own!

I'm a bit further north in Scotland, will hopefully be getting over to The Hill soon, am also considering getting down for Churchill's revenge if there's some spots open by the time I get myself sorted out.
