hi,
does anyone have an m1 garand that works ok without a clip in it, but with a loaded clip it jams...........is there a solution............
when firing the BB the rifle doesnot reloads correclty, it jams after every shot (apart from the last few),
upon fring the first shot, the top cover goes to the rear, loads another bb into the breach, but the top cover jams on its way back, about an inch from closed position, i have to pull the top cover slightly to the rear and let go forward, then fire the next shot, only the last few shots self loads correctly.............
thank you

I have this problem, mate.
From what I can surmise, a small piece of the bolt carrier towards the rear and left of the assembly shears off eventually (as the metal is a poor alloy). This piece would appear to allow the bolt carrier to roll as it cycles, disengaging the locking lugs on the backwards movement, and re-engaging them as it closes. What's happening is the bolt failing to roll enough as it goes forward, jamming the locking lug against the runner groove. The reason I think this happens only with a loaded clip in, is the pressure exerted on the bottom of the bolt.
I've had a think about it, and only either replacing the entire bolt assembly or bending the lug would seem to fix it. I wouldn't recommend bending or trying to alter the working parts though, you might properly eff it up. If you can get a hold of one, you need to replace part no. 45 (bolt carrier assembly). Luckily, I have a spare, but I might take my beautiful M1 out of service.

Update: Just emailed UN Company, if anyone can help, they can! ![]()
If they can sort out spares for part 45, I'd be up for making a combined order. I should be ordering a few, apparently, they're under $15 each.
Hope this helps.
