Hello all, my name is Jason and I thought I should say hi.

I live in the New Forest and I have recently had an urge to go back to airsoft and as I am joining a reenactment group I thought I could combine the two.

I have an ICS M1 and I intend to use the hell out of it, I do have some other airsoft weapons but they are not particularly relevant here.

I see there is an event in South Wales coming up in November and if I can get the time off (working the Sunday), I would love to join that one.

Hello and welcome,

any particular impression you are interested in (although I guess that is determined by your re-enactment group)? The kit guides are good, and if you can get along to South Wales in November even better. There is a Saturday option for the November game if you can't do Sunday.

Cheers

Thanks Martin, I was going to go for a German, possibly SS, but something kept me from doing it. I have settled (and glad I have) on a paratrooper; 101st Airbourne Division. Not original, but I think they look kind of Gucci and often in Airsoft, that's enough. ;)

As for just doing the Saturday? That might be an option as this type of airsoft is new to me. The one day might be enough to begin with but at the same time I don't want to just do the Saturday and wish I'd booked both. We'll see.

Well, whatever you choose, best to go with something fairly generic, but there are plenty of games with US troops. Garand is fine with Axis or Allies.

If you do take the German plunge, then standard Army grey wools is the most versatile and you'll always get a game. Easy enough to morph into other things should you wish to.

I think the main difference with normal airsoft is somewhat gentler pace of play, much more emphasis on working as a section/squad and no hi-cap blatfesting. It is more about the experience and a lot less about shooting loads of people.

wrt November, it isn't hugely cheaper to just to the saturday so you may as well book the whole weekend and it gives more chance to have a chat to people in the evening (by far and away the most enjoyable part imho!).

Cheers

Hello and welcome
As mentioned a generic infantry loadout will see the most use for whatever army but you already have a head start with the 101'st gear so use what you'v got and add to it to morph it to infantry , then German next maybe , I do Brit infantry and airborne ,German infantry and airborne ,it gives me the option of choosing what faction for what battle and there's no deep and bitter rivalry between factions before or after the game (usually just a good social(piss up) ) .

armoury
m1a1 Thompson,sten mk2,mp40,stg44,sterling,mk2 bren gun,lee Enfield no4 mk1,Mauser Kar98, Walther ppk,smith and Weston m10 and Mauser m712
Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.
i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......
a problem shared is a problem halved ,but an advantage shared is no advantage at all
if a job's not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well

Welcome to the forums!
I'm from the Forest myself, so chances are I'll see you at a game some time. :good:
As above, basic infantry for whichever faction you fancy is the best way to go, once you've got that up and running you can add on the fancy bits of kit to turn it into a more exotic elite impression. The kit guides are very helpful whichever route you take :)

I've fired a bullet on every continent. Nearly hit someone, too.

Hello and welcome! As the others have already said, start with the basic kit and add more extravagant purchases as you need them :good:

Try and get along to some events too, we're a friendly bunch and are always pleased to see new faces!

Thanks for the welcome guys. BootedFeet, where do you live? I'm from Ashurst.

I will be doing 101st as that is the re-enactment group I have joined. Does anyone go to Ground Zero near Bournemouth for a normal game?

I'll really look forward to my first WW2 game.

Jason

I'm in Ringwood (on the weekends) so 5 minutes away from both Ground Zero sites, when I go there it's normally in Russian FSB style gear.

Hi there Jason :good:
Your not far from me im in southampton & another thing we have in common is my laodouts are 101st Airborne & 1st/29th & 34th Infantry which I have comlete loadouts of them all & I also go to ground zero airsoft at sumerly house but this is just to attend the national airsoft event big weekend & other members from this forum go there too. :happydance:
If your not trigger-happy & can work in a squad, take orders & go at a slower pace with ammo limets then you will be at home here. :happyclap:
You will find out that if you want to attend a game but don't have all the kite there is always someone with spare kite that thay will lend out even weapons too.
Forgot!! wecome to this forum & hope to see you soon :happyswing:
Cheers
Peter.
