Hi there, Although Ive been a member of these forums for a while, I've never really used them, and until recently wasnt really that fussed about WW2 airsoft. However, Ive been playing standard skirmishes for about 3 years now and I'm looking at doing something different. Ive always loved WW2 films and games, and along with my growing interested in Vietnamsoft, Im looking at seriously starting world war two airsoft. Im based in north London and play in Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire regularly, and have just bought myself an M1A1 Thomson, so I will be looking at building a loadout based on that. Although in standard airsoft Im known for being a grunt (charging stuff, doing the wet work etc), I cant stand bolt action rifles like SMLEs and im not a gas fan, so Ive ruled out a Garand or an M1 Carbine, leading me to buy a Thompson, added to the fact I think they look brilliant. Most of the research Ive done though, seems to say that the Thompson was issued to NCOs and Officers, so Im looking at making a loadout based on a Sergeant, probably in the 101st Airborne (Eg, like Bill Guarnere in Band of Brothers) or maybe a Sergeant or Captain in the 2nd Rangers (Like Captain Miller in SPR), although these are just suggestions, as Id really like to be a grunt using a Thompson, so if you have any recommendations please shout them out. Likewise if your into WW2 airsoft in the area I play please give me a yell. Anyways, I hope to see you out on the field!-- attachment is not available --

Wotcha,

I'm pretty new here myself. Based in SW outer London and part of a small group based around here (that don't play airsoft as much as we really want to but have gamed together for years).

I'm a generic allied player with just a resistance look for the moment, but slowly building stuff for a few looks so I can join more, different games in the new year. The groups I game with has an established look of Free French with mainly US kit, but once you get involved, one look will never be enough ;)

My next game will be the Vietnam game in Dorking on the 21/22nd of this month (our team are going as VC).

Obviously, there are the kit guides, we tend not to stick rigidly to weapon issues as there is something of as a lack of suitable weapons correct for the regular grognyards of most forces in WW2  and many are expensive.

If it is your area, take a look at this:
http://www.angels.uk.com/sale.html

It may be a good way to kick-start your kit. :good:

To the tune of "Mademoiselle from Armentières"

Napoleons army ran away, As you do
The guard stood firm for Frances Pride, As you do
They said the guard will stand and die
But we heard what their Colonel cried
It wasn't pretty I tell you.

Resistance is fertile

Welcome to the forum!

You don't need to have rank to use a thompson M1A1. Leaving your uniform unbadged will make things a lot easier in the long run as well.

Certainly in some games you'll find that having rank on your uniform will cause problems as we do often use a rank structure.

BTW, there are AEG M1 garand conversions around as well, so you can avoid using gas. :)
