Afternoon all,
I'm new to the forum and re-enactment / themed airsoft although currently play "modern" airsoft with Unit 13 (I know a couple may be members on here).
I am looking to make my next purchase of RIF a M1 Garand and have noticed many on here have decided to lower the FPS and use it as a more assault based weapon. I am looking to start a British load out, although undecided as to which I would be, and am looking for advise for load outs. Likewise, I would be interested in kit people may have for sale but do not wish to make the mistake of buying a lot of stuff which isn't required. Hopefully i'll see some of you in the field soon.
Kind Regards,
Wellsey
Hi Wellsey,
Search around the forum, ask away, there's a mine of info awaiting your discovery.
Andy.
Hello and welcome,
there are comprehensive kit guides at the top of the forum. British is actually pretty easy, you just need Battledress (in nice itchy wool), a set of 37 pattern webbing and a tin hat. Just keep it simple to start with.
You don't need to buy a ton of stuff as there is often kit to borrow at games
As you've already noted, most of us with rifles run them at sub 350 and the Garand is a fine general purpose choice.
Most important thing it is to get along to an event. There are some on the calender for the rest of the year, and hopefully more coming shortly.

Wilkommen!
Thank you for the welcomes and the advise, I'll get looking at the guides and post my progress, and hopefully meet you guys at a game soon
willkommen

Hi and welcome
Before you buy anything ask on here as there's some duff gear around or just wrong pattern , as above look at getting basic infantry kit first , infantry fight in virtually every battle , then add to it to get an elite (airborne / commando ) look later on .
armoury
m1a1 Thompson,sten mk2,mp40,stg44,sterling,mk2 bren gun,lee Enfield no4 mk1,Mauser Kar98, Walther ppk,smith and Weston m10 and Mauser m712
Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.
i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......
a problem shared is a problem halved ,but an advantage shared is no advantage at all
if a job's not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well

To be honest I think I'll just stick with the basic infantry look anyway. The war wasn't won just by special forces. Plus the reality is if I was enlisted chances are I'd have just been basic infantry (although I'm sure the historians amongst us would enlighten me to the contrary).
You'd be surprised how many people want "scuba-para-sniper" as their first uniform , a uniform used for one afternoon in one battle by only 6 men but has the coolest cammo pattern ever ! Sorry if I sounded patronising , the other thing that's great about infantry is you get great squad consistency ,sometimes you just stop and look for a minute at what's happening around you or just stand back and watch an assault , you get moments that look like films or even real historical footage , I think it's kind of what makes our little hobby stand apart .

It's the same with "modern" airsoft really, everyone wants to have all the Gucci Super Ally Soldier gear. Yeah I did WW2 once when I first started and my group of friends wanted more modern so we just went that way. Recently I just looked up videos on YouTube and found some WW2 videos, like you said they are more cinematic than most others.
Dartford good good I live brands hatch so if you need local help or lift to a game just ask. I'm often dressed us ww2 at apocalypse on a Sunday
