I'd just like to express my thanks to FUBAR and the crew for a most enjoyable day. It was great to meet old and new faces, and I thought the standard of play was very good. Fortunately, we had the tree cover, or else we'd have all fried! Thanks also to Gav for lending me the Zib, which was awesome, and for Lutz agreeing to be my number two.
I hope that some of the new guys have been bitten by the WW2 bug - not just the mossies!
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
I'll second Andys comments
yep great day. Particularly enjoying the knee mortar. DA BOOOOOOOM!
I'm a hero with coward's legs.
Had a great day many thanks to the organisers again.
Shame a couple of the people couldn`t make it but 40 + is a good effort.
Site good really liked the bridges and village.
Game play good glad to see new people embracing the ethos.
loads of Pyro hat off to the US airborne who killed most of the FJ with grenades.
Great to see old faces and new, fingers crossed Martin R got back home safe and sound as he was white as a sheet when i last saw him and not good at all.
Best bits site meeting the gang getting a pistol kill with agent oranges pistol after the MG went down.
Worst bit- MG42 went down late morning
Only got one good pic of the Flak as we were pushed back all day and didn`t get the camera out.
Thanks again and hope to play at the next one organised there
I had a good day all told, thanks to the organisers and players on both sides. As always, great to see the members of the gang I know again, and meet those I didn't; Killacommy, ablindedsoldier, pleasure to meet you both. Standard of play was good, the allies forced us back all day and fought hard to get across the bridges in the village when we dug our heels in, on that note thanks to Gruppenführer Steinlager who covered me in the building while I messed around with rifle mags and did a damn good job of keeping the Amis off the bridge.
Roll on the next one.
I've fired a bullet on every continent. Nearly hit someone, too.
Just to echo the above, thanks to Fubar for organising this and the welcome and support from the site. I hope the event raised plenty of money for Help for Heroes. Nice to catch up with old faces and meet some new ones.
fingers crossed Martin R got back home safe and sound as he was white as a sheet when i last saw him and not good at all.
Thanks Gordon, yes I made it back OK although I had stop to sleep halfway. Migraine, stupid, I should have recognised the symptoms coming on but I guess I didn't quite want to believe it in the morning. Disappointed to have missed half the game as I was looking forward to it.
Sorry to have bailed early, but having to lie down every ten minutes made me a bit of a tactical liability
Cheers
Martin

phew what a hot one ,i think i'm still trying to re hydrate ! thank's to FUBAR for a great first WW2 event .
Sorry to the allied players who i stopped from going on a deep flanking maneuver but with a little more time i'll explain , imagine we were a part of the conflict in Normandy and that we were just a small part of lines of a battle stretching from horizon to horizon ,there would be no flank to go around but just more troop's to run into , it's one of the given's that veteran WW2 players accept but is a very different ethos from regular airsoft where it's a virtuous move ,anyway i hope i did not offend anyone .
the level of play was very good as was the effort everybody put into kit ,a very enjoyable day .

i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......

I can only agree to all said. Love the site.... Bridge and village is really nice. Thanks to everyone especially organisers. Glad to hear you made it back alright Martin.
I had a very good time. I am now in pain and may not be able to move at all tomorrow but totally worth it
Thanks to Greg for taking the time to organise a fun event. Nice bloke and a good crew.
Had fun, but I'm a f*cking wreck and pain killers can only get you so far. Morning was great, but by afternoon the combination of heat and not being able to move my arm properly had taken its toll. To be fair I think a lot of us were on our ass at the end.
Good to meet new faces and get shot to sh*t by a lot of old ones.
Had a great day today, thanks very much to Fubar and the team for hosting us at your site. Excellent gameplay and levels of kit from everyone. I took a few pics on my phone so will post them up tomorrow, totally knackered this evening
I would like to say plenty about today but I think everyones said it all excep I would like to thank myself for the very juicy watermelon at the end of the day which was very refreshin.
Sorry to all the axis that recieved plenty of pyro from me in the village but I just love killing you all with it even if it's costly.
But it is good fun with a capital F.
Thoroughly enjoyed myself. Was great to actually get a chance to properly meet some of you, notably, Martin, Steiner. Ruse11 and Allenby, and of course you great guys that did the organising was a real pleasure.
As for the outflanking incident if you referring to one near the bunkers then It was actually just a bit of momentary confusion that I'll take responsibility for, i saw a building on the flank and not being sure whether it was occupied or not got my guys to F&M towards only to discover when we got there that it was the fort we'd cleared way before. Sorry if caused anyone any aggro.

Thanks for all the positive feedback and we're really glad you all enjoyed yourself. A lot of effort went into the event by myself, rabbitspacker and jakethegentleman so it is great to know it was worth the effort. Also thanks to Doc for his gruesome WW2 medical memorabilia display! Also thanks to Amy who was the photographer who, despite the high viz, managed to get shot a few times. I'll be seeing her later to grab the photos and I'll post the best of them up on the forum.
It was good to put faces to names on the forum and I hope I've made some friends who I'll see at future events for long to come.
Right, if you want another WW2 event at Combat South Woodland what scenarios apart from Normandy do you reckon we could do? I'm thinking September time. If there's enough interest I'll talk to the powers that be on the forum about a date.
Onto the money! I have a couple of payments to chase up from people who forgot the money on the day but it looks like we raised £250 for Help for Heroes. We would have had more but I did supply the Allies with a box of pyro to drag around with them and nearly all was used. I think that was well received as it put a lot into the game atmosphere so I'll do that at future events but more in objectives to capture. That's not a bad sum for a £20 game fee, well done everyone. There were 37 players in all down from an original 45.
Oh, I better build another leg mortar as that went down a storm!
FUBAR
Might be worth checking with the other organisers before you put on too many dates, it's better than treading on toes!

Don't worry I've been told off once so I won't be doing it again!

Don't worry about it, was a bit confused at first then I realised what you meant when you were calling across to us, that's why we backed off. All honest mistakes really. Any way. Good game and a fantastic defense by the german team, especially in the village.
