Sounds interesting. Won't be there tonight but out of curiosity, are these custom rules?

Ralph

It was "a long time ago " (in a galaxy far far away) ,might well have been in the 1940's so totally compatible with ww2 ,didn't some of the storm troopers have mg34's and other period weaponry ,definite German connections I'd say .

armoury
m1a1 Thompson,sten mk2,mp40,stg44,sterling,mk2 bren gun,lee Enfield no4 mk1,Mauser Kar98, Walther ppk,smith and Weston m10 and Mauser m712

Funnily enough I was watching A New Hope yesterday and I spotted an mg34, luger and Lewis gun. Pretty sure Han uses a broomhandle mauser.

The storm trooper had MP40 mag pouches on one shoulder and gas mask tins painted white too. And all clones of one superior bloodline :giggle: All it needed was the emperor to have a little tache and it would have been 'Complete..' :giggle:

Yes the Imperial 'heavy weapons' are MG34s and Lewis guns (I suspect both were replicas left over from other films, perhaps wookipedia will say one way or another), while the lowly blasters are Sterlings with short magazines.

There was a great display of SW uniforms etc at the Millenium galleries in Sheffield some years ago.

I believe Bolt Action is basically Warhammer WW2 anyway, so an easy match.

Your lack of faith disturbs me.

Cheers
Martin

P.S. I am probably the only one old enough on this thread to have seen SW at the cinema when it first came out.... oh happy days, although my dad (ex-RAF) was very sniffy about 'flying in space'.

Turns out the rebel blasters in Return of the Jedi were Stg44's.

Anyone else tempted to do Star Wars airsoft? I don't think you'd last long in the field in stormtrooper armour or by pretending that you deflected the bb's with a lightsaber :giggle:

Ralph

I believe the Sterlings and a lot of the guns used used were live fire loaded with blanks, in some scenes you can see the spent cartridges being ejected, all the bangs were edited out and replaced with laser effects.

I think that the Lewis gun and MG34 were in fact real with loads of bits and bobs welded onto the sides and such to make the look "spacey". It's a shame, but I suppose bits like that were in abundance back then, or at least not considered collectable.

Funnily enough, I've considered an Endor rebel commando impression, seen as the camo was make with lab coats and spray paint and the webbing is US Vietnam kit. I think the backpacks were those old Czechoslovakian surplus ones that you find everywhere. Could be done quite cheaply, apart from the headgear.

No worries. There's an m4 on Facebook right now for £55, just in case you are tempted to build your own rebel blaster ;)

Unfortunately I don't have a VCRA defence, otherwise I'd seriously consider it. I'm hoping to join AFRA early next year. I kinda prefer the STG based blaster, as I think looks a bit more unusual.

There was a fancy dress day at eversley about 10 years ago where there were three storm troopers in white painted cardboard suits that were very effective looking and a Darth Vader with light sabre ,it was hilarious and awesome watching Darth Vader striding into a hail of BB's waving the sabre as if deflecting them ,nobody shouted "take yer hits" and just got in the spirit .
Sorry to derail the thread .
