I’ve added comments inline in bold

Saturday 30th August

1930 – End Ex (Sunset at 1951) I’d run this till nightfall

Sunday 31st August

1: Search the southern part of the island for drop containers that hold vital demolitions materiel.

Two drop containers, one with demo the other with wire and clacker. Both must be found in order to have the materiel to complete the objective. Should be put in well hidden places.

Props needed:

Drop containers.
4 x Naphthalenes.
Wire spools.
Clacker.

I take it you’re talking about “prop” pyro. No fookin’ way do we want to be in a position where its neither in a locked box, or under the direct gaze of one of the four of us

2: Clear the southern wooded area of Axis forces, gather any intelligence of Axis movements in the area.

Two German OPs in the wooded area with maybe 4 or so Germans pre-deployed. We can seed the OPs with some intel that will give an advantage if they work it out, eg the position of an ammo dump.

Props needed:

Camo netting I’ve got one, think David might as well?
Intel – Maps, letters, photographs etc.
Ammo crates Can do

3: Seek and destroy the Axis’ mortar positions.

Seek and destroy position.

Props needed:

Nebelwerfer! er, Mortar ;) – and what do you mean by “destroy”?

4: Eliminate Axis forces in the area and secure a defensive line from point D to E
An opportunity for us to use contingency if needed and for Germans to flank or counter-attack.

Second Objectives:

1: Locate and destroy a radio transmission station located on the eastern side of Mount Etna

Props needed:

Jay’s Axis Radiono probs
Pasting Table
Camo NetThat’s the second lot of camo net…

2: Seek out Axis ammunition dump at point F and remove ordnance to Primosole Bridge and hook up with your British counterparts

Props needed:

Ammo boxes what, you want more? OK, can do. They get “lost” though, and it comes out of CiA’s money

3: Defend this position until reinforcements arrive.

British Start Point – A

First Objectives:

1: Find you RV point in original drop zone and link up with Italian Partisans at point B.

2: Set-up an OP to reconnaissance Axis positions and ascertain force positions and numbers.

3: Locate and secure the Primosole Bridge at point 3 in preparation for the 8th Army and gather any intelligence of Axis movements in the area.

Props needed:

Camo netting Er, ANOTHER lot
Intel – Maps, letters, photographs etc.
Ammo crates C,mon, I’m not bringing a bloody Bedford y’know…

4: Secure a perimeter to the eastern edge of Primosole Bridge.

Second Objectives:

1: Seek out the local Mafioso who resides to the North Western area of the battle zone who holds intelligence of the position of German secrets.

Props needed:

Mafioso Boss (Taffyjohn or Nick ‘Airborne’)
Intel

2: Using this information, find the secrets and remove to a Primosole Bridge to link up with US troops. (NB This will be in the crags of ‘Etna’)

Props needed:
Papers
Enigma Machine

3: Defend this position until reinforcements arrive.

German Start Point – Pre-deployed in woods and in perimeter around Primosole Bridge.

First Objectives:

1: Fire artillery at incoming targets from mortars at point D.

Fire flashbangs in groups of 2 from mortars once every twenty minutes.

Props needed:

TLSFX mortar rounds. Nope. This will be a “light the Mk5, dump it down the tube job. I haven’t got time to fabricate a TL type mortar – and I’d sooner be fucked backwards than carry around a 3.5 foot long, 3” diameter, 10SWG walled steel tube around the welsh hills….

2: Defend the positions of the mortars and the Primosole Bridge from attacking forces and retain any intelligence in your possession at out posts.

3: Seek out any mis-dropped Allied ordnance and report any finding to your superiors.

Find the drop canisters and defend the position. We can then tell them to move it to a different position if the Allies are being crap at finding them. Allies have to re-capture to complete objective.

4: Re-capture any fallen outposts in the wooded area to the south and ensure that all intel is safely in Axis hands.

Fight to recapture the positions in the woods. Capture enemy forces and search for stolen intel. (Standard prisoner rules, prisoner is searched in situ, once searched prisoner returns to regen)

Second Objectives:

1: Defend your radio transmitter and ammunition dump at point F.

2: The Allies are seeking cooperation from local Mafioso. Capture this man and extract him to a safe position. Otherwise, prevent Allies from finding any intelligence in the area.

3: If any of you materiel is captured, counter attack and re-capture it.

Saturday Night - 1800 – 1930:

Single shot game in the woods to capture hand grenades for next day’s play.

Sunday - 09:00-12:00:

US/Brit Start Point – C

Command have requested we install a transmission base on top of the high point at Mt Etna. Fight your way to point A to collect the equipment required. You will then need to pick up a specialist radio mast at point J and take it all to the summit of the mountain to allow you engineers to construct the base.

Props needed:

Jay’s Radio Prop
Aerial (carbon fibre tent poles – I have these)

German Start Point – B

Command have requested we install a firebase on top of the high point at Mt Etna. Fight your way to point G to collect the equipment required. You will then need to pick up ammunition shells at point H and take it all the summit of the mountain to allow you engineers to construct the base.

Props needed:

Mortars
Mortar ChargesI need mk5’s for this – anyone got any?

There doesn't need to be camo netting on all of the OPs, and I'm only thinking 2-3 in total.

Camo netting will be better on the radio station, I can use the camo tarps I have as an alternative.

Can run the game to nightfall no problem. Was just thinking that as Bryan as it started to get dark people began to drop out because visibility was poor.

Prop pyro yes. I have a bag that I can use for this. Originally the thought was to let trusted players use the pyro like Tony did at D-Day, this was poo-pooed for obvious reasons.

Coolio on the Mk5s for mortars, makes things easier anyway. I believe Taffy will have some, however I will call TLSFX to add 20 or so to our order.

I could do with finding a sub-plot to use Chommers' metal detector but I've never seen them in use effectively. Any ideas?

Also, Kermit....roughly what's the budget on the mortars?

Mortars, we're looking at sub 150 quid for two of them - both German FJ variant 8cm mortars .I would like to build full size heavy mortars, but i'm buggered if I want to A: store them B: try and fit two of them in the car C: carry them.

The barrels will be fabricated from seamless 5mm wall Ally tube. This means that in the future, they can be modified to "TLSFX specification" with ease.-- attachment is not available --

Something I've just realised isn't clear from the document. The secondary objectives can only be completed after the primary objectives are complete.

My plan is for the game to unfold over the area gradually, as discussed. So the primary objectives to take the bridge and artillery points will be first/defend and find intel and retake OPs, followed by the search for intel and mafioso after a short regroup once the primary objectives are complete.

Obviously we'll need to be talking to one another via radio to manage the game well and ensure that players don't run wild over the whole site.

Hope that's clearer.

Yes, plan that looks fine.

I can bring 1 ammo crate and one large cammo net. I can bring 1 drop cylinder, two will be a problem unless I bring one of ours plus Major's German one (it's square profile so will fit better and stuff can be packed inside).

Mine detector? Axis use it to restrict enemy movement - cut off a route. Lay 5 mines, mark out area. Either guard the area so mine clearanace difficult or leave it undefended as a delaying tactic. Four men can be made busy laying mines and decoy holes. Four men can be tied up detecting - two on clearance, two on guard. Path isn't opened until all five mines found (have to be sensible about laying though, just covered is fine). In other words, there will be some element of tactical play but mostly keeping players busy. Roles can be switched on the second day.

Maps: I'll do four large scale b/w maps for commander use. BedsnHerts had a lovely idea for a 'Soldiers Guide to Sicily' which would be great to hand out to Allies (and contain a small map) which I can do no problem. If you want something to give to the Germans then perhaps you could come up with a German equiv. or maybe just give them some banknotes as wallet fillers?

Cool, cheers guys. I suggest perhaps the Germans can be deployed early to lay mines on the approach to the bridge from the Brit RV point. That'll act as a holding tactic.

Quick amend (that doesn't matter to game plan).

Since the Brits are almost entirely S. Staffs then Primosole Bridge should really be Ponto Grande Bridge - the S. Staffs big episode in Sicily. I have amended the player's and command maps to suit. It might seem a small point but it will matter to some.
