It's been asked a couple of times now - what time shall we let them come onto site on Friday?

It's annoying if they are too early (we might be the other end of the site) plus they get bored and wander about.

Not before 7pm sound OK to me - gives plenty of daylight to pitch a tent and sort a meal plus we will be about in the safezone at that time...

Funny, I thought I'd already asked this somewhere else.

I'd asked Taffy about it. He's going to be on site from about midday, we're looking to get there around 3-ish.

7pm should be fine. With cloud cover it gets dark around 8.30pm now.

Received this:

Hi Headshot,

We are driving from Northampton about a three hour drive, hoping to get to the site and pitch tents earlier than 7pm, about 4pm in daylight, as I have a problem driving and seeing in twlight, any chance of opening early, we are prepared to lend a hand.

regards

Battleaxe (Ian)

Sergente Maggiore

Not sure why they can't go to the pub, besides it's bright as anything at 7pm.

Thoughts?

Agree, fek 'em off? If he has a problem driving in twighlight he shouldn't be on the road at all!

As you say, it's perfect daylight at 7pm. And we don't want a hand.

Oh, and it will take him from 4pm to 7pm to pich a tent??

I'd suggest having a word with Taffyjohn and coming up with a "party line" that it's 19:00 Hrs at the earliest...

Moving to Saturday morning....

"You will need to be on site by 9am on Saturday to pitch camp, register and be ready for game on at midday" is what it says here: viewtopic.php?f=84&t=4424
and
"...otherwise you'll need to be on site by 9am on the Saturday." here: viewtopic.php?f=84&t=4680

But in the game plan it's
All players on site for 0800 – 0900hrs
All players assembled and ready to go from A by 1000hrs.
1000 - Safety brief by Ex-site and CiA.
1030 – Players deployed and in position. Event begins.

Just thought this ought to be clarified. The start of Steiner's game was delayed by at least an hour and a half because people hadn't turned up which pissed of the bods who left at 4am so be on site in good time.

Would it be world 'laying down the law' a little? If so, proposed text:

Please arrive on site in plenty enough time to pitch your tent, sort your kit and have a bit of calmness before briefings. We suggest 9am at the latest.
The safety brief and game briefings will begin at 10.00am sharp and we ask that you respect your fellow players by arriving in a timely manner.
Players arriving late and who miss briefings will not be able to join the Saturday day game for H&S, logistical and gaming reasons.
At 10.30 am game on is called there will be no break until 4pm when players will return to camp for food, rest and recuperation prior to the start of the evening game at 7.30pm
The evening game will finish at nightfall then the social will begin.
Sunday game on is at 9.30am - endex for the event will be called at 12noon.

Note: I'd be quite happy for timings to be 10.30 briefings, 11.00am game on, endex 4.30, evening game start 7.30.

Yep, worth clarifying.

I had envisaged that those arriving on the Saturday would be able to pitch their tent after end-ex rather than before the game.

I think most bods would want to get set up before game starts (esp if it's raining or predicted to rain).
Latecomers will have to kit up out of their car if they are to make the briefings and then pitch tents, as you say, after endex.

Do you want to add clarifications to your posted instructions?

Got this from Bedsnhearts - I blame Dave for this:

Please bear in mind that some of us have to come a very long way to get there though. Jimbob and I can't come down Friday night and are heading off at 04:30 Saturday to get there in time. We should be fine, but I have no idea what the traffic will be like. To drive 4 hours and 230 miles and not get a game will put me in a very poor humour.

I've taken this offline because I don't want a discussion on it, but a bit of unofficial leeway for the long distance travellers would be appreciated.

My reply was that we have contingency time planned but that they shouldn't bank on using it.

Sigh - if he doesn't want to miss the game he should leave at 3.30am, it's not difficult. He isn't unique, most players travel long distances.

Late players was a problem at the A2C game as well as Steiners - it has flustered players in a flap trying to get ready but also pissed off players who are sorted. Poor show all round.

At the very most I'll allow 30 minutes leeway. It won't hurt if the game starts and finishes 30 minutes later. I've purposefully not mentioned the end-ex time as we can adjust accordingly.
