3 days to go and I'm only just scraping a 2 at the moment. I think work has sucked my soul dry.

My excitement has just been tempered by anger, when I found out the dog had eaten one of my £30 sorbothane insoles!

On a more positive note, I managed to shave 2kg from the weight of my packed bergen today!

2kg!? How?! It doesn't count if you just drink the water Pete... :giggle:

Nor eat the food, for that matter! I've just lessened the amount of kit I was carrying. Still retaining the axe, folding saw and shovel though. Ditched the "full fat" sleeping bag for the jungle one, ditched the bd jacket. Belt kit, bergen and small pack now weigh about 22kg in total, which is a result.

Ah! I see. I don't have a sleeping bag in the first place, and only a jumper, not a BD.

Mine's relatively light until I put the water in it!

Heaviest item second to the water for me is the shelter half and poncho, but theyre important for my 'comfort.'

Looking forward to carrying all this kit around! :)

If there hadn't been a forum post some time after Churchills I thought you had buried her in situ

I'm up to a 7 now my kit has turned up, still need to sort some of it out though. Looks like I'll have to leave Saturday morning now however, I'm getting a project handed over to me at work Friday morning from someone who is leaving, which seems likely to scupper my chances of leaving early.

I took my kit for a 3 mile wander yesterday to iron out any kinks and make sure its comfortable. I've opted to drop the zelt and keep the Plash & IPK. No need for all three and the zelt wouldn't sit right; it kept smacking me in the back of the head and making things difficult when prone. The Plash is far better as a poncho anyway. Besides with Captain Waterproof on my team I think we'll be ok.

Yes, well. Problem is I don't have a sleeping bag that'll pack down small enough.

Trying hard to rise above a 5 ,but a week of nights ,not finishing until 08.00 friday, then having to detour to drop off my dogs, and I'll probably get there so late I'll end up kipping in the car is subdueing the excitement a little.
