Can't see how you can possibly play in dense woodland during the night, if there are forestry roads it's a different matter though.

Hey cool, full moon that weekend. That should help.

If the Allies don't have camping then what are they doing Friday night?

Wouldn't it be more manageable to game on at 12noon Sat - no need for overnighting on Friday (apart from us) which removes a bit of hassle. Those that insist on travelling Friday will just have to put up with the inconvenience of waiting for game on. Most can just bomb up Sat morning - increases chances of punters being able to make the event as they won't have to book time off work.

It gives a good eight hours or more gaming in the light, couple of hours half light, five hours dark, plus a few more daylight.

I love playing night games. The tension alone is fucking unbelievable - and that's what knackers you out :)
That time of year, sunrise is about 06:00 and sunset about 20:00. Add in the full moon that Steve has already mentioned and you're sorted. After being up most of the night, evading the Germans and then putting in a dawn assault, i don't think any of the Jed teams are going to want to do anything else, so i can see the sense in running 24hrs 10:00 till 10:00

One thing to keep in mind is that this is not a conventional event - It'll be as different from a usual CiA event as night is from day. The punters need to be made fully fucking aware of it. This is jumping back 60 odd years. No nylon tents, no campingaz stoves, etc etc

I fully intend to keep the Germans busy when they're not on patrol as well. Full kit inspections may just happen............with Keith to answer to if anything is out order

I'm biting my tongue here.

If you want to see what this will look like free up the 4/5 th April...i feel you're still thinking of this as a "normal" weekend ..not my intention at all ...I want this to be a "true" 24 hour event .

if you assume the Allies are outnumbered 3-1 , then the day belongs to the Germans . The only time the odds are reversed is at night . Allies can't assualt the Germans in broad daylight , they'd just get mullahed. The payback for playing hide and seek for 12 hours is the chance ot sock it to the Germans when they are least expecting it ....and the Germans have to keep up for it as well .

Stephen , I have fought a lot in the middle of the night , not with NV or searchlights either ... :slap:

Hang on - are you expecting Stephen to run the evaders on his own?

BTW, Jay - I'm sure you will, but when you are at the site could you ask what the minimum numbers of paying players they want using their site for a whole weekend and the fee/player or a site rental fee.

Aye, i'll ask about costs. I know his average turnout is quite low - so I cant see him after much money TBH.

I can't make 4/5 April. I'm sure there will be other opportunities before Sept to have a go at this sort of thing though.

Not happy about running the evasion team solo.

LOL. Jay will have site knowledge and is supposedly a hill/mountain walker so must be fit  Jeds were small teams so makes sense to split into two groups or more rather than a posse of 10.
Guy will have site knowledge too, a bit bonkers to have both on the same side esp. on a game that requires best use of terrain.

Well, my first though was to have two 5-man fire teams. A distraction force and sneaky attackers.....

Webby's posted this on Facebook: "Matt Webb is building a WW2 Jedburgh team for an escape and evasion game later on this year, anybody interested?"

Is that anything to do with this game?

I assume it is and he is jumping the gun!

Guy had a call from the owner of the Alpha55 site in N Wales the other day who seemed interested in having us there (its where Guy did TA3) but Guy is having second thoughts about the suitability of that site.

The other day we discussed the possibility of joint running the game with AFRA as Paul is jumping up and down to get something organised. This E&E would be suitable for this given there is the need for 30 or 40 Germans who don't mind acting out a bit of Living History with daily duties, digging in, a bit of graft and period tentage...

Yep, sounds like a good idea; but have AFRA got a site in mind for it? That seems to be our sticking point at the moment.

Paul wanted to try out a great new site called Candleston - until I told him we had played there twice already! (Candleston is just being marketed to the reenactors, so its new to them!)

Guy wants to check out one of the other IED sites...
