Sorry for this game MP40 vs Thompson is not SISK... Its a commando action so the Tommy gun is certainly fully acceptable (though in the 1928 rather than M1A1 form)

I'd still rather see people with MP40s than any modern looking bolt action with scrim on it, especially for Heer as they would (I assume) be unlikely to have scrimmed weapons.

Yith, OK not wanting to argue the toss over ww2 Commandos all being armed with a Thompson (possible but for specific operations i.e. FIBUA, tunnels etc not open ground)or running into a bunch of Germans all armed with MP40s (again possible if guards in a town or facility, not open ground) and ignoring the fact that most people will have the wrong version of the Thompson;

Can you have a chat with Gadge and reach a concensus on what this game requires in terms of weapons? We have seen posts swing from traditional squads with mainly rifles and an MG to all AEGs and it is a bit confusing.

BTW I agree with the "modern looking weapons with scrim on" as not being desireable however my understanding would be a high level of disguise that from a distance the profile and look would be pretty good?

We (the organisers) have discussed this in our private forum and the consensus was that to look perfect is more important than having lots of bolt actions.

Having loads of bolt actions would be nice, but not at the expense of losing the immersion of having correct looking kit.

A scrimmed up modern rifle is not correct looking kit hence is not preferred.

Hope the link thingy works, I've not posted pics here before. I know the headover is green and needs to be grey, but this was at app 8am and it was minus four degrees. The main thing I need to know is am I going to be ok with this greatcoat? I can get a friend to cover the collar with dark green material, but I doubt if she can do anything about the lack of cuffs.

I had one of these for Action Man. The manufacturers had spelled ACHTUNG MEINEN wrong on the board.

To be honest I was going to make some before this appeared to use up some of the wood in my garage so do you want to PM me with what you have and I'll check what I have and maybe we can make some between us?

hmm interesting topic....my Mums neighbours father was doing interesting things in Yugoslavia in SOE-he was an Engineer and postwar worked in bomb disposal. During war got the MM, served at El Alamein and Arnhem too-quite a lot that. Postwar battledress photos show him as a WO2 (later reached Major) with SAS wings, his MM ribbon (plus all the war service ribbons), later on got the MBE-something to do with defusing rather a lot of high explosive at Hampton Court, Channel Islands and many many more. There's tons of photos that I'll have to wangle a scan of at sometime....had a play with a couple of fuzes he'd saved from a Herman and a Satan (methinks)

Do we have a prefrence to what kind of weapons for the partisans at this event?
I was thinking of just using my pistol stuffed in a sachel bag.

That's perfectly acceptable. Partisans were generally less heavily armed than regular soldiers anyway. You may find a weapon that's easy to conceal quite useful as well for some of the day.

That was my thinking. I quite like the idea of casually walking up to the bosh then quicky popping a couple of rounds off before scurring off into the night :rofl: Ever that or being shot down like a pig dog before i get the chance. :slap:

Don't forget that the partisans aren't on a fixed "side", their loyalties will vary from game to game to add a bit of suspense to the scenarios.
