So peeps ,
What can you tell us about the Varsity game , other than that the undernumbered Germans will have to run around a bit harder than normal to kick the Tommies asses
Any ideas on objectives that can be discussed , will the dreaded majors mines be making a reappaerance (knowing how the York crew love em)
Are the private forums up and running yet ?
Give us the news ,
Right this is what i can tell you.
This event will be a 'micro campaign' charting the progress of two opposing platoons over a short period of time in March 1945.
On the German side we have a Volksgrenadier platoon of the 84th Infantry Division desperately trying to stave of the allied tide, this day will tell of their struggle to beat off the tenacious Oxford and Buckinghamshire light infantry.
The German Infantry have been ordered to hold the line and then drive the British out of the father land, a hasty kampfgruppe has been formed and stragglers from FJ, SS and panzer units join them in their struggle.
However this game is largely about the common soldier of the infantry on both sides.
Don't be fooled into thinking that because its a PBI ran game we'll be focusing on the Brits and paying lip service to the German forces, in fact each side will have an equal amount of resources and campaign missions.... whether you get to see all of your sides depends on your skill.
Instead of one rolling game we're looking to play this one as a series of set 'combat missions' the outcome of each one will directly affect the next 'combat mission', you will be able to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat is you're brave enough!
So sign up to defend the Fatherland or take the King's shilling.
To play as a German soldier *any* WWII axis kit is permissible although we'd really like it if those of you with field grey (be in SS, GD or any other) wear just that to represent the 84th Infantry Division. If you only have panzer blacks or SS camo or lufty blue that's cool too!
To play as a Brit we'd like it if you can wear British Airborne kit although basic battledress is OK if you don't have a denison, your smock obviously got torn to pieces in the glider landing
And as an extra treat we're looking to try out some fantastic new scenery at this event as well as providing every player with a special souvenir gift!
