I was down there for a re-enactment battle earlier this year. Not a bad site and I must agree the people involved are great. There is a little bar on site and the bacon sandwiches are out of this world.
Lots of varied terrain for whats not the largest of sites.
I had a great time, worth a visit I'd say.

For once mate I agree.

Quite a small site but with evrything you would ever want. Well runs, great props, and a small town(the WW2 Raf concrete pre fabs) Fir those that stay tho, the local town is like the one out of the end of monster club.(only joking)

More info on this would be good, I have had a read through it & it says "high level of interaction, politics and intrigue with heart stopping, adrenaline fuelled combat" but it don't mention much about allies

It's not too far from us.

As it's an LRP type of event for Axis players, can we go "monstering" as allies, for free? I'm sure they'll need people to shoot at.

More info please.

Yeah, Gunman is my local Site. The Iron Eagle games are very neat. Josh provides both Allies (mainly US styles gear) and German (1970s blues, but still very neat and do provide very passable German styling). There isn't any limitations on weapons as of yet, due to it curtailing most of the players at Gunman.

Hey Poacher, were you gaming at the re-enactment or just watching? I was one of the marshals.

the only things that made me eeerrrr. was the,

1. "concentration camp role play"
2. "isralis who want to play inmates"
3. "germans who want to do it, but arnt allowed to in germany"

too much politics, and chances for hijacking the game for political statements

IF the filth that run the papers got there hands on this , and took pictures (either as a player incognito, or from outside the site) imagine the bad publicity,

picture the headline "NEO NAZIS WITH MACHINE GUNS RECREATE HOLOCAUST"
and maybe your picture in a german loadout in the paper.

we all know that half the brainless morons who read tabloiads would belive it, and tabloids always "sex it up" to get sales

everything else seemed ok, but after a CIA event, somewhat less realistic or organized. NOT MEANING TO SOUND NEGATIVE, just saying how i see it

But good luck to them :)

This was posted by one of Iron Eagles main organizers yesterday on another forum to set out what the event is all about and to stop the nazi panic mongers.

(quote)
OK. I admit I have been a bit lax recently (real life forced me to get on woith things) so I have been behind on his thread.

The project came about after a discusion that I had with several other people, and it was dicussed in a mature manner. The concept of playing a WWII game was discussed and then the idea of playing on the German side was discussed. The people involved are some of the best roleplayers I have ever met and also the most sensible.

Now I agree that to do a German game, or a WWII game and to ignore the bad parts fo that conflict would do it a disservice, and be hugely insulting to it. I have the upmost respect to all those that served and experienced the horrors, and don't want to appear to make light of those things. It is not my intent or anyone else on the team.

We are trying to do something different. We are trying to do something new. If it fails we will hold our hands up and admit our mistake.

The idea is to have a "Band of Brothers" feel. We want the game to be more about the interaction of a group of people thrust into this situation. Not all Waffen units were part of the horrors. That is documented fact. There were groups who avoided all of that, and that is more the angle we want to get. Undoubtedly those situations will be discussed IC but I am confident that the players will respect and roleplay in a suitable maner.

We are not Nazi's or sympathisers to any ideologies that they held.

The game is not supposed to be flippant, but it is supposed to be fun. As are all games.

The literature is supposed to be simple. To provide an idea as to the feel of the game, and to explain the basics of the rules. We want as many people as want to be at the event to be there. Hence why we produced the literature to give out at Maelstrom. I apologise for the fact that the printing company we used was a muppet. If you want a pdf version of the literature, feel free to email me.

We have plans for 2 additional campaigns in the series. A western front allies game, and then a pacific basin allies game. But that is in the future.

The idea isn't jsut to run games at airsoft sites and have fighting all the time. We will also do more interactive mystery style events, as well as banquet style events for all 3 campaigns.

This has been a bit rambling and I apologise for that.

If you have any specific questions, please ask. I will try to answer them as completely as possible.

Ben H. (@yahoo.co.uk">benjyh2001@yahoo.co.uk)

It's only a game!!!!!!!!!!!
(Stop Quote).

Hope this help anyone who'd cosidered coming.

Hey Poacher, were you gaming at the re-enactment or just watching? I was one of the marshals.

I was there as a player. It was a great weekend. I and some others slept in the building at the site entrance.
it was the first time a re-enactment battle I had been a part of had been marshalled airsoft style. On the whole it worked well, everyone was helpful and those bacon butties....

Iron Eagle Normandy tickets will go on sale June 4th and we will be promoting Iron Eagle for next year at the War and Peace show in July.

We ran a 2nd Battle group (re-enacters) battle weekend in Feb this year and looks like GMA will be running another one in September. Blank firing, looks awsome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vp99YaHLYns check out the little movie. Will need loads of marshalls if anyones interested.

Surely a Heer unit would give you far more scope for a wide variety of character types a la 'cross of iron'

For example, die hard prussian officers, party members, covert socialists, conscripted objectors, regular pre war old sweats. etc etc

and avoid 99 per cent of the political flak for featuring an ss unit.

I'm just curious as to why you didnt go down that route for a roleplay game where you ant a broad mix of characters.

I'm pretty definite you're not going to get a lot of anti nazi non party mebers in an early to mid war waffen ss unit.

Very True Gadge! The first two Iron Eagles are very small LARP games and those booking on to the 1st one, an SS game are doing so for the roleplaying challenge set before them, and their story starts before the atrocities began. Highly trained soldiers, brainwashed and at the very begining of the war. The'll love it!! If your not a roleplayer or have no interest in roleplay the larp events arn't for you.

GMA is only interested in pushing the 2WW IRON EAGLE Battle weekenders on these airsoft forums as they will be just that. Sorry for the confusion!
Good old grit, bally hero's and a pile of action is what were selling!!

Were promoting IRON EAGLE in many different giuses, from Airsoft to private re-enactment battle, 1940's murder mystery to LARP experiences. Each has its own type of player and flavour, we even looking into blank firing re-enacters weapons with infa red tech as a marker. Hope this explains a bit?

Brainwashed.?

They were all highly vetted political volunteers.

You could be excluded from the Waffen SS for having socialist relatives or too many teeth fillings in 39 - 41.

You don't get folk who were not fundamentally Nazi in the SS until after the massive losses on the Russian front.

In fact im pretty bloody sure you had to me a party member to join until the war took a downturn.

The only bloke i know who is the exception to this and a notable exception is Joachim Piper who joined the SS because the army wouldn't promote him fast enough.

If you're setting it before the atrocities it must be in '38 then as the SS pretty much raped Poland in 1939 and executerd British POWs in the battle for France...

Not being picky i'm just very skeptical of revisionist history.

I find it very hard to believe that party members transfered largely from the SA were brainwashed.

Late war when you're looking at children who had grown up in the shadow of national socialism unaware of anything politically beforehand and raised to fight against Bolsheviks.. well maybe...

Again, the only Game GMA is advertising on this forum is an AIRSOFT game, IRON EAGLE battle weekend 'Normandy'!

And as I said, I agreed with you!! Hiensiteits is a bitch but the AXIS LARP game is almost sold out!! We shall run it with the respect the topic demands and rethink the regiment for the next AXIS LARP game.
Thanks for your thoughts Gadge, it was a bad choice to run Waffen and would be useful to have such a wealth of knowlege for the period on future events!:)

I'm meeting with some of your chaps on Thursday night to discuss CIA's possible involvement in the NORMANDY event in November.

Is there somewhere on the forum GMA can upload a pdf of the rules and event giude for NORMANDY?
cheers

Here are the rules that we will be using for 'Operations and Normandy'

IRON EAGLE

The basic rules

All Soldiers start with 2 bandages / hits! Any friendly player can heal the first and second hit by tying one of the injured players bandages to their arm. On the third hit the soldier is a KIA.
If the soldier has more than 2 hits due to being a veteran, they can take more wounds (carry more bandages for themselves) and can be healed more times before KIA
When out of hits the wounded player must return to their CP and go to the medical tent for 10 minutes be registered as KIA (Killed In Action) and return as a new two hit grunt.
Welcome to the FRONT LINE soldier.

When shot the soldier makes the load call of
