Heya guys
While we have the next few planned I was wondering what PBi members would like to see as a future game.
Please vote on the options.
oosterbeck - South Staffords versus German composite kampfgruppe
outskirts of caen - Hallamshire battalion vs Heer
Operation mercury/Crete - Anzac and UK troops vs FJ
Italy - 2 commando vs Heer
A fictional 2 commando raid
A fictional airborne op
A fictional line infantry operation
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Well all would doubtless be good, but
Hallamshire Vs Heer, because it would be nice to have both regular forces represented as more then a minority.
Italy, because I like things in the Med'
I'm stopping there because otherwise I choose them all.
oosterbeek, obviously, and i fancy yorks and lancs...... working on a bd jacket. also the med stuff... but any would be fine.
I like them all.
How about a wartime game with no uniformed units at all? SOE agents versus Abwehr within a civilian population where some are loyal and some aren't... That would take the role play/immersion thing to a whole new level.
Spanish civil war is an option that woudl encompass no uniform.
While i think your idea is great (i'm currently rewriting the cyberpunk 2020 roleplay game to be 'SOE 1940') it *might* be to far down the larp route for PBI.
I think you'd also need to have a very urban location to get away with it.
Greta idea but it might be out of our remit.
*but* if anyone wanted to run one i'd give them my support and probaby play in it.
Just a personal opinion, i dont speak for PBI as a group there.

Yeah, agreed, while i think it'd make for a great game, if played properly, it's probably a bit too far a step away from 'our' style of ww2 games to put the PBI name to.
Especially following the sh*tstorm that followed even mentioning the SCW last time.
I have wanted to see an Oosterbeek weekender ever since I got my Staffs kit.
Personally i'd like to see a regular line inf. vs. Heer game, but a Crete game could be good, as could a sneaky-beaky commando raid game.
Longmoor would be perfect.
It's ironic that LARP is a bit of a dirty word and yet it was that element that lots of the hardcore types enjoyed the most at Lightning
I agree that you'd struggle to get decent numbers for that sort of game, even though decent 1940s style civilian clobber from a charity shop would cost less than re-badging for an army unit.
Hi,
I voted fictional as it makes it easier to bend history a bit to give a really good game.
I thought the civilian elements at Op Lightning were brilliant and well played by all. How about something like the prison spring and other scenes in Black book, or the liberation of Paris etc where there were pockets of Germans mopped up by resistance after the regular army rollwed through. Collaborators also involved in that no doubt.
also like the idea of Commando raids like the Channel islands ones, the radio station (can't rember the location) and the Norwegian hydro dam raid. Lots in there but history would need to be bent a bit to get a good game out of it.
Edit, there is a newish CQB site in either Hilton Park or Kidderminster apparently. Ex mental institute so perfect for us lot?

I'd be there with bells on. or without bells if preferred.
My personal preference would be something that exploited what we already had rather than yet more kit buying.
For that reason (and I'd like to explore the scenario further) I went for the Ooosterbeck option (note spelling for those who went to the 2007 Arnhem game )
In fact a Market Garden 'series' would be great.
I voted Oosterbeek and Operation Goodwood, for the same reasons as C-W. Much easier for the majority of people who already have the right kit.
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!

i agree, a market garden series in miniature would be cool. P.S.
If ...and it's a big if ..a Norwegian scenario would be good.
You'd need a suitable site such as Strines? and some bitter weather , but a Narvik or Heroes of Telemark would be good .
old un,the strines as in dam paintball? if so it is lathered in paint, absolutely everywere.
Er yes ..I've not been there........ but know where it is .if that makes sense ..Yith told me it was very steep and wooded hence thought Norway
A norway one would be good actually.

i worked there for over 10 years as a paintball marshall, its up to the knees in gelatine shells and every tree has about a three inch coating of paint. its messy. there were 2 companys used it, one had some fields at the top just for airsoft, unforunatley karen was a real harpie and pissed off wentworth estates that own the land, so they kicked her
and mark off. chris and steve got the whole site and opened the airsoft part up for paintball. like i said, messy. shame though, i have know steve and chris as close friends for years, i might have got it a bit cheaper .

There's a ludricrously steep hill on the west side of the site.
