What are people's thoughts on standardising the type of footwear used in the PBI impressions?
I know we've had various threads on how authentic ammo boots are unsuitable for airsoft and that there is a huge variety of work-arounds, but I think that this is something that would really add to the "uniform" look of the units.

DMS or Ammo boots would be my opinion but i'm equally more concerned with geting the basics together and stuff like blancoing webbing.

Ammo boots are fine for airsoft as long as you don't use them on concrete.

i.e. they're not good for urban, but fine for most woodland games.

DMS boots are fine for both...

If we're going to a public re-enactment event then you'll want ammo boots... DMS at a push, though expect to be stitch counted! ;)

This place had a good stock of DMS boots when I was there in the Spring. They're not in the catalogue, but trying ringing them up.

I'm with you on getting the basics together first Gadge but I'd like to know what I should be buying as an "ideal". I have a pair of hi-top Magnums but they don't really look right, even wrapping gaiters around them.
If we're about playing rather than re-enacting then DMS seems the way forward. Any stitch counters will be cordially invited to kiss my asphalt :D

Yup... I'd recommend DMS.... not everyone will want to buy the equivalent of the 6 pairs of suitable boots that I've managed to collect... lol :)

(I use 4 of those pairs regularly, 2 for re-enacting, 2 for airsofting... yup I know I don't have that many feet!)

A pair of DMS was what I got at the start and they still get used (for urban airsofting only, mind)

 Part of the ethos of PBI is eventually to get the kit to a standard that would pass muster at a reenactment event.

obviously that's a long way off for some of us, (myself included!), but it's one of the aims we'd like to aspire to in the long run.

Personally, reenactment events would be awkward for me too, purely because of my hair and piercings, which i'm unwilling to have cut, and unable to remove, respectively.
