I see many more orders of the Cockerel being awarded for marksmanship.

Let us know when this is being run and we'll turn up to watch.

Puts me in mind of Epidsode 1 of Porridge, where Fletcher and Godber are being inducted into HMP Slade?:

Prison Doctor: I'd like you to urinate in that bottle please.

Fletcher: What - from here??

when i was a young soldier, the army still had the LMG on its books, it was never issued and was well obsolete but you had to APWT pass on it . it was incredibly acurate in the trained hands of older soldiers. the are many stories around of trained bren gunners stopping german tanks by well aimed bursts through drivers viewing slits( especially at arnhem where they had no choice and had to do something) but you had to get very close, not something i would fancy.but it does explain a bit about why they have a golden place in army history, no other gun was as loved and respected.

'When I woz in the war' I got to carry one around, fire it, love it and trained up to fix it. Bren - they're lovely!

Hence my manic desire to have an airsoft one unfortunately dashed on the rocks of cost and reality as the S&S ones are too expensive.

All is not lost as I have dressed up my M249 as one and it works well, mags in the side not the top (hidden by hessian). I have aux pouches, a barrel carrier and a vacancy at Husky for a No2.

Anyone fancy it, I did DDay 2 with 100rnd mags plus a few hi caps (200 &300 rnd). It is really fun running out and having to change mags, and cart them around in every pocket, honestly! But would have been more fun with an 'oppo.

Maybe we should take turns as it seems that being No.2 is a bit of a chore for the whole game.

Mine didn't arrive in time  so I'll just be turning my AK47 upside down and pretending

Don't mind taking turns firing as carrying it is hard work, carrying the mags is much easier!Means I could use my rifle as well for a bit!

Have 3 x gratis BREN mags for Barrie - dropping them off @ 'the pocket' :good: they're no use to me.

Cheers, Del, very generous. Especially when you consider giving me more mags will mean more bbs coming your way at the next game...
