Right if you'd like to join the PBI group please stick your name down here and what role you'd like to play in the group, e.g. if you've a bren thats great or you might enjoy being a medic.

Well, as you know, I am putting together a Brit para outfit - I felt that (a) the Allies were becoming outnumbered, and (b) it would be fun to play alongside the Allied colleagues whom I have only seen at the end of a gun barrel!
Therefore, I will be playing Axis and Allies in approximately equal measure, so if that's good enough qualification to join, please sign me up. I don't think I'll be getting an Allied weapon yet, unless a cheap Tommy turns up, but I know the Paras like captured MP40s, and I also have a K98.

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
As I said Saturday I'm definately up for this
, as to which role I want to play I'm not sure
, as you may know I've got a bren but I don't want to be stuck in that role permenantly, also in the next couple of weeks I'm expecting delivery of a replica PIAT which I hope to be able to convert to fire nerf rockets or something similar, I assume this is something that would fit in with this group?

Occasional play on both sides is fine Steiner and Pete, yep i'm sure we could find use for piat!

Pete, I'll use your Bren! ![]()

I rather enjoyed being a medic at wotan so I may well be up for that. short of that my only acceptable gun currently is the thompson I have so what ever that will fit in around. In time I may get a sten or no4 but for now im to short on cash
perhaps demo or something around those lines if theres a role for that too

Thompson is perfectly fine Rhys
A sten MkII, MKV or a No4 would be better...
Or actually even a nicked MP40! ![]()
PIAT sounds great!
I have been promised that Major will be making me a 2inch mortar soon... ![]()
Also, as 'pool guns' go, i've got two spare MP40's (and 7 mags in total) that i'm quite happy to lend out on a 'bend it and pay for it' basis.
Shortly to be added to the group inventory will be some new toys when i get on with them, but more on those when i've got something concrete to show you! ![]()
im not a fan of my mp40 plus i need to sell it to fund my PDI kit
I think I'll be getting a sten next or having a bash at making my own. will have a bash at converting the thompson to the 28 version though to make it more in keeping

I think evo is looking at an mp40 to sten conversion

it's either going to be an M14 or MP40 i'll be using, i'm looking into the feasibility of both at the moment.
We're both still up for it.
We have the bren, sten (when it's fixed), 2 enfields (on the way from Warren) thompson & mp40.
Barrie/Anne... Glad to hear you're going to be onboard!
BTW, everyone... check the PBI user-group to see that you're included.. ![]()
AK gearbox obviously works for stens though not sure how we could get around not having the same internal hicap as warrens. will the hop up feed if its on a angle etc? ie not facing downwards, and will that mess up the trajectory of the bb?

Had a quick look and I don't think the MP40 will be suitable, (I think the shape of the gearbox could force you to compromise the profile of the sten too much), however the M14 looks as though it would fit ok.
I'm planning to do a mkII myself and I'm intending to use a MP7 as this is what has been used by the guy on the ww2aa forum for converting a 'real steel' mkII and by the guy on this forum whose built a mkII from scratch. The only problem could be that the MP7's aren't very powerful so that may impact on how skirmishable the sten would be ![]()

I have seen several players successfully use MP7s for skirmishing, so I don't see a problem.
To be honest the main problem I've seen with them is the difficulty of getting to the hop dial.

Yeah, i havne't dismantled and measured the MP40 internals yet, but i've read that someones made one with an M14 internals, so that's possible.
I was thinking of the ease of using mp40 mags, and so modifying the existing mp40 magwell to fit.
As far as the range/power, the real sten was really only a CQB weapon, having an effective range of about 50 yards, so as long as you're aware that you'll be outranged by more powerful weapons, you'll have to play to it's strengths and weaknesses. As in real life, i suppose.
I've seen players use mp7's well but not very often so I'd rather something larger in the sten. Not looked a m14 gearbox before. will its length allow a long enough barrel for the bb's to fly ok? as I know the barrel length in warrens is pretty short.

You can do a silenced sten and use the silencer to give you an bit of barrel lenght.
Also the south staffords got a few dozen patchett smgs (very early stirlings) so that could be an avneue to consider.

I`ve seen a website which describes how to convert an ak box I think into a sterling, I`ll try and find it....Did the Patchett look like the Sterling but have straight mags? ![]()
