Yeh, airborne troops don't normally walk very far.....unless your a Falshy..Ha Ha.

Sorry, not the Luftwafe fault they have crack paratroopers and no planes.

I will be PBI South Staffs for this (first time) please excuse the Belgian denison as I need to get a few more games done before I invest in a better one. Might invest in denims if that seems to be the order of the day.

Please don't even talk about non-blancoed kit! Though I have three sets of MT pouch and belt that are unblancoed if needed.

Agree with Gadge we should wear the standard South Staffs kit (blancoed and all) so it looks uniform.

Well a denison shouldn't have any insignia on it other than para wings and a south staffs cap badge costs 2.99 from the staffordshire regiment museum.

I appreciate your choice to wear whatever you like but as this is the PBI private forum PBI will be going as South Staffs.

Yes i know the only insignia on the denison is the para wings, i may change my mind and buy a South Staffs badge and take my para insignia off for Huskey so i can join the rest of PBI as i could always just put them back on if i wanted too.

I know you will all be going as South Staffs i was just informing you of my personal choice sorry

I just think it looks awesome when we're all badged up as the same unit,

At Varsity we all rebadged as Oxf & Bucks and it looked really good, similarly at the training day 12 of us as Staffords really looked the part and gave us a 'team' feeling.

Its totally your choice what you go as but I thought it would be nice if you joined in with us lot :)

Up until a week ago btw i had a spare south staffords badge i would have given you for free but its since been Bronzed to go to chomley as his staffords officer.

If he's not doing that then i can prob strip the paint off and you can have it instead.

Yer im defo gonna grab a South Staffs badge and take my para insignia off, then i can also buy a Devonshires Badge for the 6th Airborne and like you said the uniformity will be great, problem is will the South Staffs badge fit in the holes cut in the beret for the Para Badge ?

Wooo - thanks Gadge!

DT - my beret is full of holes from badge swapping. You can only see them close up and anyway, I like a 'used and abused' look to my kit!

Probably not... the SStaffs badge is on a slider.

DT cheers for being cool about that.

I would never dream of telling someone what they can and cannot wear but the cool thing about PBI is that we look like a pretty good airborne section when out together (much better than some well established re-enactment groups i've seen).

Its great to have you onboard.

My beret also is like swiss cheese on the cap badge part.

So far its had staffords, OBLI and army air corp insignia.

BTW there is a *bit* of flexibility if you didnt want to be a stafford.

We can fit the odd glider pilot in (a ratio of about 1 in 10) or RAMC or similar 'supporting corps'.

For example if uberwaller wanted to do an officer it would be easier to rationally fit him in as an int corp officer but an OBLI officer wht a bunch of staffords just looks silly.

Dave - i'l give you the cap badge and major rank slides at haggard.

Ok cool, im fine with South Staffs both the south Staffs badge and the Devonshires Badge can fit in the same beret hole because they are both on sliders, if all goes well i should have a fully complete kit by Huskey.

So far at Huskey I need to pick up, a gas mask bag from Webby a No2 commando badge from Yith and South Staffs Badge from Ramsay00105, after seing the SAS team at Haggard most of whome were in Rangercamp Denisons and all looked very good and then getting the new SOF cataloge with the Paras on the front, it has just fueled my need for British kit.

Was there any conclusion reached on what to wear for Husky?

Is it blancoed or unblancoed webbing? (We can do either)

Is it wool trousers or denims? (We haven't got denims)

I think is was all south staff's with wool trousers and blancoed webbing if you have it.

Unblancoed webbing for Husky (if you have it otherwise blanco'd is fine). Berets with S Staffs badge. Tommy helmets are fine.
KDs or Denims if you have then, wool if you don't.

Interestingly, the only photos I have seen of glider-borne troops are training for the Sicily campaign in North Africa and were all wearing KD shorts and trousers, not a Denison to be seen!

Well this is what I was planning to wear

I could always ditch the helmet for my beret and replace the trousers for some British OD lightweight trousers if you would prefer it or if it is wrong for Op husky ? I dont know what uniforms were worn for Op Husky as i based my kit on Op Market Garden.

That look is great DT and will do the job well. I'll be wearing a beret all the time - partly so you can spot me easily but also 'cos I get iritated by helmets in game :ghey:
