Nice delivery yesterday. 6 Czech field telephones. They look 90% the same as the German ones. So far, 4 out of the 6 work (now i've rigged em to take a D cell battery, not the humungous block battery). The other two will work once i've done an order with RS Components for some new mics - i can find a modern equivalent that will fit in the handset no problems.

I'm not keen on using them at CR (want to overhaul ALL of them - bare bones overhaul), but will for UCAP. Question is, anyone know where to get a HUGE roll of D10 spec comms cable?

95 quid delivered for all 6. Bargain :) - now, if anyone finds a switchboard, let me know, will ya?

Jay, there's a place in Leeds where you can source cables....I think it's Jameson's or something like that.

Ask Yith, he might know.

Oh, this is just getting silly now. I blame the beer, its half litre cans, and i'm on number 4.

Using 4 of the Czech phones, two of my german telephones, and now a Jerry desk telephone that a mate brought over, i've set up the network from hell:

What does it mean? it means that the CO (sitting in the garage with the Desk telephone) can now pick up and speak to all the other phones - using just one phone himself. The ones between the shed and the garden use a ground loop return, therefore only need one wire between them. Oh, and i've been offered a ten line exchange as well, so you can call individual phones on the network :)

Shit, this is rather sad really. Right, i need another beer...

Ah, the old 'ground loop return' ploy - good plan.

If you need cable Steve D. gave me about 500m (probably more) of unshielded twisted pair at CR.

(Edit, by that I do not mean computer network cable (aka UTP). Basically its normal single core cable, but there are two wires and they are twisted together... easy to separate.)

Any chance of bringing the phones down to UCAP this weekend to have a play? I'll bring the cable.

Yeah, i'll bring a pair down, and a short length of cable. Got a good bit of D10 here, but you can never have too much!
