Hi peeps , in your absence , we came up with a hit list of things to do which we all need ot get involved with . The main theme being what to do after CR as we have no "official" games planned. The following is a rough discussion of the outcomes

1 Gunmans DDay Game in November - We need to set up a meeting in the next 2-3 weeks to explore if we want ot get involved, if we want ot run this or if we let him gett on with it alone. Debate as to whether or not to take this on as a CiA event went along the lines of "lets meet up and decide how much we could control the game rather than let it be some LARPy bit of cack " He's offered to meet us in Nottingham , suggest a midweek evening meet over a pint or so , and then decide where ot take it from there. I personally am ok with volunteering with this event , as long as I don't have ot do much after CR . There is also the issue about the cost of the event, but again best to meet him and soon to get a handle on this

2 CR Scenario meeting . I have commited to getting the scenario to rough draft for discussion in the next two weeks . Suggest again we have a "Gadge's House" meeting for all to have a debate . 17th May is good for me. I have also decided to structure the game more , and have three phases to the Saturday , an E&E/recce phase, and attack on some AA guns phase and an early evening convoy assault/steal the plans phase rather than just let everyone wander around the woods getting bored. Plus the morning assualt on the V1 itself . More on this later , but reckon we need more action and less reenactment .

3 The bunker game at the old bunker . Kemrit old lad, you've been framed as the key person to pull this one off coz you is down sarf , perhaps some time in August. We could do it as a "lite" ie less on props or could go full out for something special( Don't forget we still have the Nazi Gold at our disposal ) Andy Cracking Day is yer man 07766336388. If we are going to do it then we need to get a date and start promoting it ASAP. Your thoughts appreciated

4 If not that game, then Webby came up with a Falaise Pocket Idea at Dave Mannings site in Shropshire - another big woodland site. Some nice ideas , and we could tie it in with the historical date near enouhg as well . Again we need ot get going with this or the bunker if we want ot get thew players in .
My initial thought was that the Falaise pocket was about the destruction of all German Armour - and we don't have any  I'm sure we can be imaginative.

5 Eznugud (Sean Philips) of LFU / SYA has contact Yith saying he plans to put on a WWII event in September at his new Proteus site. He doesn't want us to run it , he'll do that himself. Rich is going ot see if he plans on using our rules and kit guides . The feeling was that we would promote , help and encourage Sean to link his players ot our forum , but stop short of putting our name on it. There was a debate about allowing him ot use our forum as the booking thread, the feeling was 2-1 against this as it would look like we were involved, which we're not . Nothing ot stop us promoting it though .

Overall Caen for me was a bit of a Skirmish in silly kit. The main people properly dressed and armed were.....yes .....all us regulars. There were a few Germans in decent kit, but the play style was very gay/open day at times . We done to Chef for putting in on , perhaps my expectations were too high . Overall not a bad weekend, and very kind of CW to allow me to stay at Schloss Werner on the Saturday , however it didn't have the feel or authenticity of our two games for me to make it worth trekking down there again in a hurry .

To summarise then :-

We need some agreed dates for meeting in Notts for

1 Gunman
2 CR Scenario

We need to have an agreement about what to do with an August Game , assumng we'll hold off on Septemeber ot allow SYA to have theirs in peace.

Meeting at my house then is fine (17th may).

Also happy to help out meet up for the gunman game.

Shropshire game sounds cool

I still think Itlay makes th emost sense for combined nations for a late summer game.

Erm is sean wants to run wwii games fine but i *really* dont like the way sean runs stuff, i dont mind him socially iu just dont liek the way he does games and i dont want to be associated in anyway if hes running it, it's debatabvle wheter i'd play. Iused to get very frustrated when he changed scenarios and key rules mid game to get the resullts he wanted. (and not even in a subtle marshalling capacity as we did at arnhem)

When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........

I'm still a little unsure about Gunman and LARP, especially if their regulars will be expecting it, but if CiA do go for it then I doubt I'd be able to commit much time to it for organisation anyway, so that's by the by.

Can't make 17th May as I'm in Cannes. (With work) Definitely need quite a bit of flexible structure so that you can steer people through the day without having to rely too much on their ability, imagination or initiative. Plenty of simple, non-proppy subplots would be a good idea, intel gathering, search and destroy etc.

Do think that we could be over-doing it if we have another big-ish game in August, both from our energy and suplly/demand. CiA Lite sounds good.

Falaise pocket is a nice idea, but could be demanding on the Germans to battle out of encirclement. The game would need careful planning to stop a complete rout.

Not interested in booking other games for other organisers. If they want to promote on here then fine, but running a booking system through here gets a 'no' from me.

Sound on all that Stephen .
Initial thought was to look at 4 games a year, one every three months with the organising bouncing between us .
Appreciate you/ Kermit are always going to be at a disadvantage geographically .
I'm concious if we walk away from the Gunmna thing we'll have no games planned past CR , which would be a shame to loose the momentum .

Which is why i'd like a late september italy game at a woodland site.

Any later than sep and its getting dark early and the weather is less reliable.

Itlay allows us UK airborne and line, ditto for US, FJG for germans as well as heer, herman goring lufty troops. Virtually anything fits in to a d-day dodgers game.

17th May fine for me too.

Note that a meeting with Gunman doesn't have to be at Gadge's house - could just as easily be at a motorway service station cafe. It doesn't have to be maxed on CiA attendees as it really only needs to be an exploratory 'meeting of minds' discussion - not a cast in stone scenario and voting with a show of hands. Just need to know whether we can move in the direction we want, what he is putting into it and what he expects out of it.

Doesn't really matter how many of us meet Gunman - we just need to establish directions and intent, no need for decision making at first meeting.

I agree. We can spend a little time in discussion on the 17th , and then if just 2 or 3 of us meet him the week following for an exploratory talk, at least we'll have the views of the group in our minds. I suspect we all have the same concerns .
I'm happy to meet with Gunman with CW and/or Gadge if you can't make it Richard .

I'm not sure now whether I'll be able to make the 17th meeting... Its the only night I have left to organise myself before going on holiday, next week.

Eek , that'll means no Allied commanders at the meeting , which is not a good idea - any chance you can come in Yiths place Stephen ?
