]Overall Caen for me was a bit of a Skirmish in silly kit. The main people properly dressed and armed were.....yes .....all us regulars. There were a few Germans in decent kit, but the play style was very gay/open day at times . We done to Chef for putting in on , perhaps my expectations were too high . Overall not a bad weekend, and very kind of CW to allow me to stay at Schloss Werner on the Saturday , however it didn't have the feel or authenticity of our two games for me to make it worth trekking down there again in a hurry .

I have to say, the Caen event was exactly as I expected - a skirmish in silly kit as O/S says.
Yes, play was very gay at times but the KGB mental-ism hasn't dimmed - 500 grenades in two days is impressive!
Probably unfair to compare it with what we are trying to do though. I only went to it because a) reciprocal visit, b) CiA were going, c) spreading the WW2 enthusiasm. Otherwise I would have only gone if, as my last visit, it was integrated with a holiday break.
That said and done, I did enjoy patrolling, guard duty, and my forays into the woods with James were awesome - some real heart thumping moments. I'm really not interested in getting into firefights these days.
Got to see a lot more of the site this time, shame it is a little linear as it made attacking or flanking Caen difficult. Airstrikes to clear Caen were a bit gay - just proves that the defence needs weakening to make 'proper' attack more achievable.
There were some poo moments but the good thing with a weekender is that you can take yourself out of then game for 15 minutes, have a coffee and chill for a bit.
PR-wise it was worth it - lots of questions and cards handed out - I see Jezz has signed up to our forum.
Oh, and alcohol and airsofting doesn't mix. OK, I'm an abstainer but as was seen at Arnhem and Caen, blokes with hangovers = bad tempers and poor attitudes. Strongly advise that we make Churchill a booze-free zone!

Couldn't agree more.

Yep - third on that one .
Definately gets my vote. Last thing we need is people keeling over 'cos they're so dehydrated from getting wasted on the friday night (let alone the "attitude" thing brought on by a bad hangover)

When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........
A plea not to bring booze has now been added ot the kit list thread under "food"
Yeah i agree, no real reason for it. Makes the post game pint all the better too.
