I wear mine cos i like the look although i know they are not 'right'.

For my impressions rank they are utterly wrong for that stage of the war.

Kermit told me that post 43 its only really senior ncos and officers in jack boots.
But it thik they are comfier and more 'iconic'

So its why i wear them, if i was doing german for wotan i'd probably got for ankle boots for safety though.

They do indeed make a racket! Also, I prefer the ankle support of my short boots.

I wear brit issue black jungle boots under the gaitors for urban.

really good soft rubber grip, leather lowers and cnavas uppers so with gaiers on they look pretty much liek leather boots but you're more flexible but still supported on the sides of the ankle.

my jackboots are russain, with 3 inches chopped of the top.
the have a smooth leather sole, so great on concrete, but in the mud on the training day, i kept slipping

as long as the floor is dusty or rough concrete i should be fine

it depends lewis, mine were russain cavalry boots, they came upo to the middle of my knee,i put the next to a genuine pair of german issue , and they were alike, so i chopped 3 inches off the top to make them the same height.

if your boots are the right height, dont chop them

I was at a wedding this weekend, and I had forgot that I'd left my posh boots in a hotel months ago. I polished up the jack boots and wore them under my trousers. :) (I think I got away with it)

I DJ'd this weekend at a sci fi theme night in a black flightsuit, jackboots, a vest top with an Imperial Navy logo on it and a stromtrooper blaster rifle as a Star Wars Tie Fighter Pilot waiting to scramble

Yeah i've worn mine to the local and the wooden floor on their clacks a bit with them, and they are only half metalled, the sole is rubberised, only the heel has a horseshoe!

With hobnails i went to a memorial parade in dress uniform and hobnailed boots and nealry skated down the path a few times...

It was hobnails and slouch hat for me round the pub on Saturday after the F&O open day... Gotta love that clacketty-clack.

However I did do slip a bit in the carpark... lol

I've no problem hitting the pub in my mustards, DI, rank and all. Only if someone comes with me though...
