The No4 wont be taken, due to its unsuitability in tunnel warfare.

Weapons? P38, spare mags. Crate of grenades. Don't think i'll get chance to play much during this game, so my armaments will be primarily defensive.
When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........

Syd was telling me they were equipped to land in Vichy France and the idea was not to look like the 'British blokes who'd deserted them as Dunkirk'.
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
in which case count me in as a Commando. What insignias etc will I need to put where?
Not usre, Syd knws about it, prob time to have a bit of a google, frenzy.. race you to it, see what we can find!
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Hmm might not be no7, seems they were disbanded in 1941, ill have to find out which group it was but its not the first time ive heard of it so i know what syd means.

Their were two Cmdos, No's 1 & 6, that were FULLY Equiped with US gear for the torch landings in Vichy held N Africa, once the operation was over and they returned to blighty they "Kept" their nice semi rifles(I presume they allready had the thompson, so the US weapons they would have got that they didnt have anyway would have been BAR, M1 Carbine and Garand)
For all subsiquent ops. they used their US weapons in conjunction with Brit kit.
In effect this means that you can Kit bash what you like from the USA and UK Cmdo.
Insignia, if you want to wear any as War office regs said no insignia outside the uk, is No 1 or 6 Commando title wich is red lettering on a dark blue ark, the combined operations "roundal" or thompson & Anchor badge and if you wear a beret then a badge, either your county regiment or no badge at all
Hope that is enough Info.
I would recamend a set of Denim overalls for this, for a number of reasons, and a jerkin with a Tommy or Turtle helmet(But I will be wearing a Cap comforter because I am special) & a shortarse
ah so by this point they are likely to have just been using the yank guns not the yank uniform. plus when they were equipped with it sounds like it would have been infantry kit. hrmm shame. Will dig into it a bit deeper and see if its doable.
Well, hopefully, if I get the camo gear on time from Spearhead:
M43 dot 44 camo tunic with LAH Scharfuhrer boards, matching trousers and ski cap
Steel helmet with camo cover
Rubber soled post war jackboots
Y-straps and webbing to include bread bag, canteen and mess tin
mp40 and pouches with spare mags
p38
Otherwise I'll be coming as GD - a la avatar photo -
Gun could be a prob with the 330fps limit, my MP40 is actualy doing nearly 340fps on its standard spring now I have fitted a better barrel, uniform will be probabaly be M40 jacket with heer insignia, may have a go at doing a Normandy camo pattern on my genuine M1935 helmet

If its a genuine helmet surely its better leaving it and painting a repro.
Asides from knacking the collectors value you'd be damaging a piece of history.
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Its fairly rusty with no liner at mo, been looking at restoring it for a bit, ill prob treat the rust & spray it with spray filler first
Steve.D
Oh it that case then, yeah...
I imagined it was usable and you just wanted to recolur it.
