*nudge* I can find no reference to this.
The camo suit was worn by some army units and withdrawn.
The USMC was purposely kept away from the normandy landing for political reasons.
I think what Steve is trying to say is along the lines of the mails i've sent you matt, its themed game and its not really in with the them is it?
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."

what yet we will have to see....i have a job interview today so if i eventually get a job i think a spending spree is in store!
A full hohenstaufen rig if I can get it assembled and cash allows by then- had an expensive couple of months having bought three new guns.

Major will back me up about the Marine's being in Europe, been chatting with him about it.
Just because it aint on google doesn't mean its gospel, thanks for checking up on me by the way!
Ho-Hum, maybe 1 day somebody else will get Marine and Jap gear and we can do an Iwo Jima event.
ill get some marine gear but ill be wearing what i want to events
Checking up on you?
pardon?
Or do you mean Steve.
Sorry Matt i pointed out that it wasn't appropriate really via PM, by sheer coincidence Steve, our main US ref agrees so i thought i ought to openly state that i'd mentioned it to you.
If the USMC were in europe fine but they obviously kept a bloody low profile as i cant seem to find anything about it online or in the few books i have on us forces in wwii.
Or is that not what you meant?
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Personal Armour System Ground Troops
Modern us 'fritz' helmet, so called because of its similarity to the wwii German type.
Its a plastic replica i have, ill bring it to wotan for you.

Long as it fits the theme.
Same as we'd turn away someone dressed as a cossack
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Gadge
You are a gentleman and a scholar.
Cheers
All i'll say is that i tied geting a wwii splinter pattern drawstring cover on it and it *only* just fitted but the ss type with clips should fit much better

You might wanna put some kit restrictions on the booking thread then mate, I have no problem with playing in whatever goes, but unless some1 says something we're not gonna know are we, when we booked our places I said 5th Marines and no1 said anything...
I wil have it changed just for you then Matt.
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
im sorry guys im going to have to break this up now..i think you are being a bit unfair..and im saying this from an unbiased point of view.
I have noticed a few people within the group, whilst they do give valuable advice and pointers towards kit fail to recognise that while it is important to create an accurate an image as possible that many people can not afford to spend on a multitude of different kits, and yes i know allowances are made. The other point i think gets often overlooked is the seriousness of the events, i was under the impression this was a fun group, to have fun and enjoy ourselves whilst portraying characters from the events of wwii. I understand re-enactment groups to be more of a "stitch-count" tribe and had not expected such a response from this group....
on a lighter note what does it matter how accurate, or what someone wears to this event, its hundreds of feet of underground in the sodden dark. i think id be more interested at looking where im going than exactly what colour my comrades jacket is!
just my 2p and my opinion..i dont expect to be ripped apart for it!
I think the problem here Hebs is that Webby does have suitable themed kit, but seems for some reason to want to use un-themed kit...
Apologies if I've got the wrong end of the stick... but I've only been barely watching this discussion.
i think Yith that you do. i have one kit and everyone knows that...my point is that we still are 21st century people, who live "normal" lives, we pay to play, we take time off work, studies and whatever to enjoy themselves and from what i remember of the early events that if you didnt have period kit or weapons allowances were made...
the fact that anyone turns up in any form of wwii kit should be a bonus to your efforts.. not a kit nazi topic!
i have raised this issue before but 1. no one seems to listen..must be more feminine than i thought and 2. i get ripped apart for having what everyone knows is a valid point!
Information is key Gadge, just need to know what can/can't be worn and then there are no issues
And Yith, I put down marine kit just because I had just bought it and wanted to wear it, without guidelines of what can/cant be worn I didnt know any different, nothing to do with me being stubborn, I have already mentioned I'll now be in my Big red1 gear, so no further issue....
*put to bed*
Booking thread changed.
Yiths hit the nail on the head there.
I appreciate the desire to use new kit but if its not in the theme then its just not right to do so.
I'd have loved to have played in my chindit kit at some point but it would be daft to do so until we do apcific theatre event.
It just detracts from the overall look and everyones elses efforts to get in character.
Being a stitch nazi is not allowing someone to use a post war m1 helmet,or saying you have to have the right shade of blacno on your webbing.
being a stich nazi would have been saying that you and Matt couldn't wear cheshire titles on your kit at Arnhem as the cheshires were not an airborne regiment or even there!
Asking someone to wear kit they have already that is appropriate to the game is not really being a stitch nazi is it?

Ditto!
Though to be honest I'd be a bit cold down there!
I was wearing Serge Battledress with cotton shirt at the weekend and was perfectly happy as regards temperature.
When in the Safezone and a little bit more static I started to feel the cold a little and put on my Leather Jerkin... though this wasn't really necessary... lol
