Just to pick peoples brains, I have a rough list of what unit types were issued camo smocks and the like but was wondering whether specific camo was for specific units.
Am going for an assault engineer impression so just want a bit of guidance before cash is exchanged.
Also any ideas about shoulder board colours and insignia would be appreciated.
Thanks for any help.

For Assault engineer types you cant go wrong with the Amoeba pattern 2 part smock and trousers.
The thing to be wary of is that if one in the unit is wearing it then all the unit should be wearing it. There are no individuals in the Soviet armies.
No shoulder boards and insignia on Soviet camo kit.

Trident also do a version with a more tan/less green background.
aka Stigroadie

AFRA
better by design
"Truth is a shining goddess, always veiled, always distant, never wholly approachable, but worthy of all the devotion of which the human spirit is capable. "
As Poacher says the Amoeba pattern suit is the best bet camo wise. It was used throughout the war and was the most common. Stick to the simple green/brown or khaki/brown versions, lots of the others Trident sell are a bit dubious.
Insignia I believe would be black piped shoulderboards for technical troops. There would be no branch badges on the field M43 insignia. If you're getting camo for when you portray an engineer you could get maroon piping for infantry instead so you can portray them as well when you're not wearing camo.
thanks guys thats the advise i needed, hopefully have the impression up and running for op red cap.
