I would expect to see something in there even if its things like oil drums, wooden boxes, and overturned tables

Feel free to bring some along

Nobody's forcing you to come. If you don't like the look of it, don't book.

Sounds like you haven't played at many urban sites, quite the opposite actually, remember these games are fought as units not individuals scrabbling about in the rubble ,there will be more than enough cover, try it ,you'll enjoy it.

You'd be surprised, those roof supports and internal offices look like they provide plenty of cover. The factory buildings at Bramley Training area are all empty, and they were great fun to fight in/through/around.

It just means you have to think a bit more, rather than just going all CoD and running for the next bit of conveniently placed cover.

Well Stoff and diselmonkey I hope your right, I think this site has potential, even though the main building from the photo has an interior thats looking sod all like one during the battle. I've done some urban games before and they usually have buildings divided into rooms and coridoors, not an almost empty open plan floor. Still thankfully we can skirmish around and outside the building too and the other buildings on that site.

Steiner, I'm prepaired to give this a try, as the saying goes "Don't knock it till you try it". Besides an event like this give me an oppertunity to liquidate baby killing pit vipers.

BedsnHerts. Could you explain the joke? If I had the money and time spare I'd hire a van and visit the nearest recycling centre and decorate the place up for you, but I don't and I'm not the event organisor so that isn't my responsibilty.

To be fair, we, as organisers*, generally do this for fun, not profit. We also use other people's airsoft sites, so the facilities available are limited to what they have there. No organiser is going to go rent a van, buy a load of oil drums/crates etc, to fill out someone else's site out of their own pocket.

As well as the financial implications, there's also the fact that you end up with a back garden looking like a scrapyard after the event.

Short answer, we work with what we can get. we can, and do a lot of set dressing, but it can only go so far.

*I'm not in any way involved in this game, apart from as a potential player, just experience of organising previous events.

From the few pictures I've seen of the site I don't think there will be too much to worry about. AGS know what they're doing and with the right team work and limited ammo I doubt there will be much chance of any stalemates. Having rubble etc still in place would be excellent but personally I'd rather have limited cover than random fake cover, barrels and pallets strewn about the place. Better it looks like and abandoned/stripped factory than some sort of speedball site.

its all about willing suspension of disbelief, without that then were all just fools in fancy dress playing silly buggers.the site only has to have enough dressing to allow this and the games ive been to have had a lot of trouble taken by the organisers to affect this .
on a side note i'd be happy to store props in between games or even be involved in makeing them all free of gratis, let me know if there is anythuing i can do.

i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......

I've done some urban games before and they usually have buildings divided into rooms and coridoors, not an almost empty open plan floor.

It's not an open plan floor. There are three main halls / workshops, lots of connecting corridors and about 20 smaller rooms. That's not counting the additional satellite buildings or the outside playing area. It takes over an hour just to walk the site. Xsite have also added extra architectural features which make it extremely challenging.

I'm not the event organisor so that isn't my responsibilty.

However I am one of the event organisers and one of MY responsibilities is making sure we only have people with the right attitude (which isn't really shining through right now TBH)
Frankly I couldn't care less whether or not you've "done urban games before", whether you consider the site to "have potential", or if you're "prepared to give it a try". AGS goes to a LOT of trouble creating an immersive experience for players that goes much further than dumping a load of rubble and wreckage on a site that's just been cleared of rubble and wreckage. Most of it we keep under wraps until game day because we just love seeing all those happy, shining faces.

So you can either trust our judgement on this or not - your choice.

I wouldnt worry to much Gollob, I've only been to one AGS game so far but it was cracking good fun, so every confidence in the organisers. :good:

As with Dadio, if any help needed with props etc, would be glad to help :good:

:good: Now thats a selling point. If I'd have known all that from the start then I'd not have posted my initail concerns.

First post of this thread -

This is a disused industrial site with 25 acres of playable area and includes a large factory building with a complex and challenging interior.

Indeed the withdrawal of youth is to blame.

The thing I hate most about young people is that I'm not one of them!

To stick my oar in - if the chaps organising go even hallway to what was achieved at il giogio then there should be no worries whatsoever regarding the dressing of the site.

Are we going to have mortars again? They scare the bejesus out of the foe!

I don't know what they to the enemy, but by God they scare me. Last time they were used was the last time we saw Colin. I blame them for his disappearance.

Last seen in sunglasses and black beret boarding a ferry to Ostend.
