You would be better off getting Swiss mountain boots if you wanted all the nails in the soles. Bit of mud on the souls and you can barely see the nails anyway. If you really wanted them look for 'tricouni'. Produced from before WWII and used by civilian mountaineers and on the Swiss boots and still produced today to the original recipe. Probably not worth bothering though really.
I used to try to 'walk' boots in around the house. Sitting in them to watch TV and all sorts. Don't know if it helped as it always seemed to take me best part of six months to walk a new pair of boots in.
